I am overall happy with the purchase? Operating the oven has been a bit confusing with the preheat feature and timer

Replacing older oven

I bought this oven a month ago, replacing another GE oven and am extremely disappointed. The audible signal is very low and not loud enough. The steam cleaning is worthless. I can't use aluminum on the bottom to keep it clean so it has baked on mess. Wish GE had kept the light switch and self cleaning feature.

A small wall oven that can cook a large turkey.

I replaced a 1981 GE wall oven that was this one's predecessor. It was still working, except the ancient clock quit more than a few years ago. This oven seems to have more room in it. And it is self cleaning.

Oven is awful

I have had mine several years, cannot get the door off to clean. The locks will not come forward to release. Just adding water in oven, heating it up and just using a cloth to clean it does not work. The sides will not come clean, the bottom will not clean the over cooked pie off. I would not advise anyone to buy this oven it is not woth the heartache to bake in a dirty oven and it is definitely not worth the money I paid for it.

hidden bottom heating element
on August 28, 2019

This is the second wall oven we have owned with a hidden bottom heating element. It simply is a bad idea. The oven takes a long time, (15 minutes) to preheat. If you put food inside during preheating, the top will burn, as the top element being inside the oven heats much faster than the bottom, hidden element. This design also means that the oven must run a fan continuously to move heat into the oven from below, and prevent setting fire to surrounding cabinets. Fortunately, this GE oven is much quieter than our previous one, a whirlpool. This GE also heats more evenly, though still not as well as an oven with both top and bottom elements inside. The claim that it is easier to clean also does not seem to hold up. We never had any problems cleaning our previous oven. One simply ran a clean cycle, and after cool down, lifted the bottom element and sponged off the bottom of the oven. Unfortunately, nearly all wall ovens now seem to have a hidden lower element, or we would not have purchased this one. The oven is easy to use, and did not require reviewing the manual to operate the controls. One important thing missing is the ability to turn on the light without opening the door! GE wall ovens are highly rated for reliability, and we hope that turns out to be the case. We are still using a GE wall oven at another location, which is now 24 years old. Finally, all wall ovens are absurdly expensive, and this one is no exception. Why should wall ovens cost double the price of a complete range, and also a cooktop cost double the price of the complete range, making these two separate appliances cost four times as much??!!
