Nice Laser!

The print quality is superb. It's also very quiet. I've heard of other laser printers that consume so much electricity that they literally dim the room lights and make the room hot. Not so with with this printer!! I don't notice it being warm at all. Time for first print is also surprisingly short. Other have complained that the prints are curled. Yeah, they are a little. But, not terribly. Haven't used the duplexer much, but it does work! So, far, I really like this printer!!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Big Dissappointment

I have been a Brother fan for years, and I feel let down. Setup was easy, and thought things were going to go great. Duplexing is horrible. I'm not talking envelopes, just printing a simple manuscript as a double-sided document. The printer misfeeds every 5-6 pages as it retracts the page back into the printer to print the back side. On a 205 page document, I wasted over 20 sheets of paper. I'll need to do manual duplexing, or exchange it.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Not Good For Printing Envelopes

I bought this printer specifically to address envelopes. Alas, this printer is horrible with envelopes. The heat from the laser activates the glue on the envelope so it seals the envelope. It also wrinkles the envelope. Overall not a good printer to address envelopes. As to other features: it was simple to hook up, prints fine letters.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great Printer So Far!

Have had no problems and duplex printing has worked great so far. Local toner supplier said they prefer dealing with brother over other manufacturers.

Machine fills expectations. One complaint, as has been noted by others, is the mangling of envelopes. The envelopes are crinkled up, regardless if they come through the top feeder or the back feeder.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Outstanding value

An exceptional value in a B/W laser printer that will amaze you with its many features and long-lasting cartridge. Set it for "Duplex" printing and be amazed at the speed it automatically prints both sides of the page. Only slight inconvenience is the back door and guide settings for heavier paper stock and envelopes. Be sure to load front drawer with the printing side face down.

This is the 7th Brother product I have purchased over the past 5 years. I have been very pleased with Brother's laser mono printers. I LOVE the toner save mode - longer life on toner and print quality is still excellent. On this particular model, the first copy out time is a bit slower than my HL-5370DW but other than that, I have been very pleased.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Good printer, affordably priced. Better quality than the older 2040 and 2140 models.
The duplex function is an unnecessary feature for most office users. 99% of the time it is never used. I wish Brother included this as an option with their upscale models. The complex mechanics of turning paper around and re-feeding is what causes jamming of paper. I wish Brother built in a simple algorithm of reversing the path of paper when there is a jam to allow easy removal.
So get rid of the duplex, create an absolutely straight paper path, spend that money on more durable drum and higher capacity toner.
Brother is still the best value for money in laser printer s and fax machine areas. The output quality is excellent.
