Good Photo Printer

I really like the way the Cannon Selphy ES40 prints 4x6 photos on fancy postcard paper. The only problem that I had with the system was that the ink/paper included cartridge was not included with the system. I could not find it at any of the local stores either. I ended up going on-line to get it. It does print great pictures though, and the ink/paper cartridge is easy to change, and ensures that you have enough ink and paper for the pictures you are printing, and then the easy change out and continue on. I would reccommend this printer for printing 4x6 pictures.
Pros: Compact Design, Easy Setup, Lightweight/Portable, Sharp Tones & Colors, fast print speed, easy to use
Cons: ink/paper cartridges hard to come by

Found the product great for 4x6 pictures. Very good quality and prints fast. I wouldn't recommend this product to friends or family for the fact that I cannot buy the replacement cartridges anywhere but online. When I need the cartridge, I'd like to just run out and buy a couple and not pay for shipping.

Cons: cannot find cartridges

I love having this little printer at home. The picture quality is good, the colors are crisp. I received it as a gift at Christmas and have had it hooked up ever since printing for scrap books and kids school projects. I found the 4x6 paper a few places but have not found any of the other paper options that are supposed to be available.

Cons: paper options/availability

I love the ease of use with this product. I can not imagine having to go back to uploading all my pictures to another site in order print them. It gives me a great deal of flexibility when I am scrapbooking or wanting to print a quick picture for a friend or family member. My ONLY issue is that the cartridges seem to be hard to come by. When I find them, I try to stock up in order to keep a stash on hand.

I have used this printer in the field at 4 seperate charity functions and it has performed 150%. Color is spot on, print quality is fantastic, and a big topper kids love to watch it work. In fact a few adults got quite a kick out of it too. I've had no problems finding carts for it in fact, I've gone through 7 so far. Even in the field, the ability to give the customer a hard copy on the spot can seal the gig. Brings me back to the old Polaroid days. Yes I used them for the same purpose but, the quality of today's DSLR lenses comes out in the prints and blows away the old way. I'll be looking for an upgrade with a battery power source. My truck has an inverter that works fine but I'd like to know I can get away without it.

I had a Mothers Day project that I was very excited about so I went out and bought this printer based on other reviews online. This printer is great! It took less than 5 minutes to set up and start printing pictures from my computer. There were so many pictures of my mothers grandchildren, ones she had never seen before! She was thrilled when she saw the pictures brought to life in bright beautiful colors! This printer did the job! It was fast w/ no problems whatsoever.
BTW... for the person who wrote the review about not being able to find paper for it. I found more than a dozen places that sell this paper.

Don't buy this printer

My review boils down to one issue... the paper/ink cartridge is too difficult to find. I purchased 2 of these in Dec 2009. One for my mother in law (boy am I embarressed) and one for myself. My husband & I like to purchase from a local camera store. So, that is where I bought them, even though I paid a premium price.
They claim they can not get the supplies from Canon. Sure enough they are not available on Canon.com.
I did find from online but had to pay extra for shipping.
