Poor Quality

The stove looks good in an avant garde way. The controls are intuitive and seem to be comprehensive. Unfortunatly the quality of materials seem to be cheap especially considering the cost of the unit. The stainless steel is very thin and the entire top surface had to be replaced after the two very thin tabs that were holding it on snapped off. I have a GE profile dishwasher and refrigerator that seem to be of excellent quality so I'm not sure what happened with this one.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Only one major flaw.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We.ve been using this range for several months after having used GE's top line smooth top range for the past several years. In general, we like it a lot and especially controlling the heat of the top burners and the power burner feature.
The one objectiion we have to date is the noise of the oven's cooling fan when it heats up past 400 degrees. It comes on automatically so it can't be controlled and it is very noisy. It is not a nice noise. It sounds like something made in China at the lowest possible price point. Tinny might be a good description of the noise. Not only that, the noise keeps on going long after the range is turned off. Annoying, to say the least.

Design needs a bit more work

The oven is fairly good, but some design flaws detract. The biggest one is that the external cooling fans make a racket when on, due to a design fault where the fan housings just touch the back sheet of metal. This causes the back of the oven to amplify the motor vibrations and bang like a drum. We had them replace the fans, but it did no good, I put a piece of foam my self where the fans touch and finally fixed it. Also the connector for the oven probe did not hold so the probe would fall out, and had to be replaced. This should have been checked at the factory before being sent out.

Best oven I've owned

The center grill works great for many items. The ease of cleaning the top is unmatched, and the digital oven controls are straight forward. I would (and have) recommended this oven to many friends and family.

Cooktop stopped working twice within first 2 years

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Service had to be called twice within the first two years of owning to service the gas cooktop. We have also had continuous problems with the ignitor. The oven works fine, except that the oven blower when set to convection is extremely loud.

Product needs better design

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Works OK, but alert tone volume cannot be adjusted as is stated in owner's manual. Control board needs to be back-lit as the control push pads are difficult to see in low light. The cancel button is too close to other buttons so that it's easy to accidentally cancel your inputs - even in the middle of cooking. Food can get under control panel too easily. Small gas burner can't be used to simmer as the heat is still too high on lowest setting - food will burn.
Overall quality feel and look is not up to price.

I've had this range for just over a year and it's been very problematic (burners don't work, knobs don't turn, oven temperature varies wildly, it's very LOUD) and the problems continue, only now they are not covered by the warranty. The bottom line for me is that at this price point, we expected better, especially from GE. A one year old range should not have so many problems. You can do much better for less. If I could do it over again I would never have bought it. This range has great features, which is why I bought it, unfortunately they don't work.

oven cleaner could perform alittle better but over all i wouldnt trade this range fro any other love the look love the way it cooks
