Disappointed....

As with all Samsung products, this Blu-ray player has nice features and performance characteristics.
I have just one HUGE disappointment, partly due to my own fault; it does not include an Amazon Instant Video app and cannot be upgraded. I simply assumed the Amazon app would be included and found, only after the fact, it was not and cannot be upgraded.
Since I bought it on Amazon, I can't return it for exchange without a fee.
Buyer beware....do your research first.

It does the job but I can't set up the home screen as to how I want it. I don't know if that's because it's Wi-Fi or what. I have a new Samsung non-Wi-Fi blu ray player and it is much better. The home screen has a lot more on it and I can set it up to how I want.
Pros: Inexpensive
Cons: Did not meet expectations
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

GREAT PLAYER - EASY TO USE

Received this player as a gift from my son on Christmas. He and my husband hooked it up to our new LED TV in no time and we were watching movies like never before! This player is easy to use and gives a good, steady picture regardless of the disc (Regular or Blue Ray).
Pros: Durable, Lightweight

3 months old-Stopped working after using Netflix app

Worked fine until I decided to watch Netflix through it. When my son brought it up on his ipad and pressed the "watch on ipad" button, the DVD player zapped and screen went black. I unplugged it overnight and worked again for a few minutes the next day but went black again in the middle of a movie. Has never come back since. The TV recognizes when it is on and automatically changes to the proper port, but the menu never pops up. Now it does nothing, can't even watch a DVD.
Cons: Poor quality

Probems - no display and buttons on top.

1. The Blu Ray player has no display, except for the TV screen. That means that if I want to play music, I need to have my TV on if I want to see what track I am on. I find that a pain. Why waste my TV screen time? It has a possible (?) advantage that the display gives the track and the song name. I do not have to look at the album cover. But I liked it better when the track was displayed on the device. My solution is to use an old DVD player that displays the track when in I play music, so I do not have to have my TV on.
2. The tray open button is on top. That is also a problem - it is hard to see the buttons on a book shelf. At least make the buttons on top a different color so they can be seen. I may put stickies on the buttons so I can tell where they are.
Pros: Bright display, Inexpensive, Realistic color
Cons: poor user design

BD-F5700 internet connection fails often

The BD-F5700 bluray player has many good features, but they are all outweighed by a poor wireless internet connection. The problem is that when the connection fails (every other day) the player will not easily connect back to the network. It requires that I turn the ATT U-verse modem off and on, or perform a hard restart on the player. The player is only 23 feet from the modem and all other wiifi devices in my house have no problems staying connected to the internet.
The player has good picture quality and starts fast. But once again, the inconvenience of a failing internet connection is unacceptable and earns this product a poor rating.
