Ice frosts over in ice maker
on May 30, 2013
Posted by: EvenMag
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Very disappointed in this refrigerator. The ice cubes develop a frost after several days which leaves a refrigerator taste in the water. Several techs have been out but unable to fix it. Food freezes on the shelves and ice develops on the contents of the freezer. Why would anyone want a refrigerator like that? It harkens back to the days of the ice box.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Last GE refrigerator
on November 7, 2012

After replacing this appliance 3 times because of various mechanical and cosmetic issues, it is still not acceptable. Items in the refrigerator pick up odors after the first day. Even food in the freezer unless it is shrunk wrapped will develop ice and odors. I believe it is the design of the ice maker because when I dump the ice bin once a week, it improves but does not eliminate the problem in the refrigerator. In addition, vegetables in the back of the bin freeze.

Bought this refrigerator in 2011. Less than 9 years later, it has a refrigerant leak that is not repairable. Will not be buying a GE product again.

More of the same piece of junk coolant system
on May 3, 2021

Lucky for me I did not buy this it came with the house. Mine was made Jan 2011 I looked up. Ice maker did not work at year 5. At year 10 freezer quit freezing and refrigerator is still hanging on. After 4-5 hours of research online and tearing this thing apart, there evaporator coil is bairly forming any frost on it signifying either a coolant leak or compressor problem. components pretty decent, but coolant system is junk....suspect many are the same. No need to have a tech look at it. Confirmed junk by other reviews.

Fridge only last less than 7 years
on July 24, 2018

Same experience as other reviewers: a leak in the cooling system. The fix would cost about the same as a new one and no warranty it will work/last for a long time. The refrigerator will be thrown away, sad that it still looks brand new.

Stop working after 7 years
on November 24, 2019

We bought this fridge July 2012 and it stopped working in September 2019 due to compressor failure and overloadrelay broke. We called couple of guys for the opinion and they said it’s expensive to repair and better to buy a new fridge. This is an expensive refrigerator and I didn’t expect it to break in this short time. We also bought matching stover, microwave and dishwasher. One of the stove Burner also does works well. The burner flame is uneven so my food gets burned on one side while other side not well cook. I will never buy GE appliances now.

Good for a while

We really liked this refrigerator for many reasons for a while. However, the ice maker has now gone out and won't make ice anymore. I've had a couple repairmen out and they said it's difficult to deal with the manufacturer on this so they can't help.

Hello,

We’re glad to hear that you enjoyed your refrigerator, but we’re sorry that the ice maker has given you issues and soured your overall experience. An ice maker can be a huge convenience, but we know that no one wants to deal with one that doesn’t work. We are constantly working to make our appliances better, and we’ll forward your experience to our product team so that we can continue to improve. Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. We hope we can earn your trust back in the future. -MichaelB@GEA

Freezer Ices Up
on February 7, 2012
Posted by: NotHappy

Right out of the box this fridge hasn't lived up to my expectations. The freezer began icing up from the first day we turned it on. Turns out that this was a known problem with this unit that requires a circuit board swap to fix. I expected more from a fridge at this price point and the new circuit board only improved the freezer but didn't fix it.
