Got this baby to replace an older lightweight model that had cruddy suction. This hoover is so much more powerful with great suction. the attachment is excellent for pet hair on the couch, etc. and I love the retractable cord. It's a bit heavy overall, but worth it for me.
We bought this vac. a month ago, after reading the glowing reviews it got in "Consumer Reports" It works every bit as well as our old Dyson (that suffered from "degenerative plastic syndrome" after ten years of use). The only negative comment we could make would be that the rewind mechanism could have been mounted a bit higher on the machine to aid in avoiding running over the power cord (which is a common complaint with all vacs, by the way)! We hope we get the same serviceability from this as we did our Dyson, but, if not, I could buy four of these for what I paid for just one Dyson; so, I'm willing to replace this one a bit more often and, I'll still be ahead, all things considered!!
This vacuum was purchased based on a well known testing magazine's rating and a popular retailer's price and am very impressed with the features and performance. Thanks for a good design I just wish that it was made in the good ol' USA and I hope that it will last many years since it seems to be a very stout machine and well built.
I would recommend this to a friend!

It is unfortunate that I see bad reviews for this model that seem to be based upon the fact that these certain users/reviewers just dont seem to understand what a cyclonic upright vacuum is and how it actually works compared to traditional bagged systems!!! Sure the handle and other outer pieces are cheap plastic but the rest of the machine functions great! YES, properly cleaning this thing out and rinsing the filter DOES TAKE A WHILE and it DOES TAKE A BIT OF PRACTICE AT FIRST! Once you get the hang of it it becomes obvious that the canister design and esp the smartly designed rinsable reusable filter really do their job well! This is one powerful vacuum! The canister fills up quick beacause of that! Emptying out the canister when full may also take say a long screwdriver to help free chunks of debris still caught inside etc. but that is just the nature of a good cyclonic vacuum wether its Hoover or Dyson (most of which are actually crude and gimmicky compared to this model!)which is POWER! Want it off your floor? These things will get it especially this one! MAIN DRAWBACK-the hose actually is waaay to stiff which makes using any attatchments very difficult. Pulled out to length the stiff hose fights the hell out of you trying to snap back into its beginning length. Still I think this is such a good cheap upright cyclonic value that I bought another and now own two!
A fantastic rug (and I found out) floor cleaner. After searching for the perfect vacumn finally found it. It is all it is said to be! I have a "cleaning person" who uses the Windtunnel, and absolutely swears by it.
