I had previously posted a negative review but the helpful response from Kenya and link to a brief Youtube video changes things. It turns out that I had not removed and cleaned the rinsable/primary filter. After doing so and allowing it to dry thorougly before re-inserting, the vacuum works as well as it did on day one. So, in the interest of accuracy, I'm updating my previous review.
We have had this vacuum less than a year. It won't seal properly anymore. It sounds like driving in the car with the window cracked. Can't figure out how to make it seal. I do like the auto rewind on the cord and it is very light I would really like to figure out how to make it seal.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Hi Judy: We read your review. Thanks for the kind words. Let's see if we can figure out what's causing that noise. We put together a quick troubleshooting video with some things to check. You can see it here: http://youtu.be/uBt-TjDNMCs
If that doesn't solve the problem, let us know. Thanks again.

The vacuum turns off when used for a long period of time. I am constantly cleaning the reusable filter and i have to replace the hepa filter because it melted.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Thank you for your comment! A clog in your unity will cause a block in the air flow. When there is not enough air getting to the motor to cool it down, the thermo fuse is programmed to shut the unit off. Please check owner's manual for troubleshooting assistance with this. Hopefully this helps!
I received this vacuum as a gift (do not fear for the giver - it was requested). Based on the amount of dirt sucked out in 3 consecutive weekly vacuumings, apparently I have been living in filth. For the first time in my life I am inspired to vacuum, which really is the highest praise I can give. I wish it had a lower clearance, but this is a small quibble.
Height Adjustment Actually Works on Mohawk Soft Carpeting

I recently had new carpet installed in my home which is one of Mohawk's soft Triextra carpet's. My 1 year old vacuum cleaner could not push thru the carpet. I called Mohawk and asked them what type of vacuum cleaner should I look for in purchasing a new vacuum cleaner for this soft carpet. I was told to look for one that has adjustable height for different carpets heights and floors. I also look at a You Tube Video that showed the same thing to buy one that does have a adjustable height that would go from low pile carpeting to high pile carpeting. I bought 2 vacuum's, which was another good brand name vacuum and this Hoover. Both were lightweight and had the features that I was looking for it to go from high pile carpeting to low pile carpeting but to also work on hard floors. Both Vacuum's came today. I first tried out the other vacuum which was lighter in weight. I found it to be OK but still had a hard time trying to push thru my soft carpet even with it's adjustable carpet height feature. Another thing I didn't like about it was that it was hard to change the settings from low pile to high pile carpeting. Since I have 2 cats it did pick up hair and dust from my carpeting. Then decided to give the Hoover a try. It was not difficult to assemble as a 66 year old senior lady. I adjusted the settings to high pile it was easy to push and picked up more hair & dust. I was very surprised at how much hair and dust it did pick up from the carpet that I just vacuumed from another brand name vacuum manufacturer. Just now trying to figure out how to get the stuff out of the canister without having to pull it out with my hands. But overall I am happy with this Hoover.
This vacuum lost suction after approximately six uses on 250 sq ft of carpet (no pets). There is an s-shaped tube on the back of the vacuum that clogs frequently, I have to unscrew it to clean it out every few uses. Once the tube is clear the vacuum works fine. I'd recommend looking for something better designed.
