I have hardly used this vacuum. The first time I tried to do multiple rooms it started overheating & shutting down. It can take from 2 hours to over 24 hours for it to start working again. In addition, the suction tube (hand tool) does not have any suction.

I was very excited about this hoover. I wanted one with a hose as my old one was just an upright with no attachments. On this model, the hose is really short, in order to vacuum the cobwebs from the ceiling I must lift the whole unit up on a chair. But the most irritating thing is that I have oriental rugs with fringe and when I go over the smallest length of fringe, the belt comes off AND it is a real pain in the neck to put it back on. It takes a heck of a lot of strength. The design is really poor because the belt has nothing holding it on the end of the metal rod. I would not buy this model again.

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear about your issues with the hose and cleaning rugs. Please do not place your cleaner on furniture, as it may result in injury or damage. Going over fringe on a carpet can jam the brush roller and pull or snap your belt. Try adjusting the height setting to a higher setting. If you continue to have issues, please do not hesitate to call our Customer Care Department. 1-800-944-9200, 8am - 7pm, M-F EST. Thank you!

I got this vacuum specifically for dog hair, and it works well for picking that up. It leaves the floor much cleaner than my previous vacuum, and the suction has not waned with use. I have noticed a couple of design issues: 1. The power cord return was excellent at first, but now works very slowly or not at all. Because there is no other place to wrap the cord, trying to work the cord back in without the rewind can be difficult. I end up pulling the whole cord out and waiting for it to slowly rewind. 2. The attachments never had suction. This is especially difficult because that means the machine is basically useless for stairs. For some reason, every time I attach a hand tool to the hose, the air just blows out from where the hose was connected for upright vacuuming instead of creating suction in the hose for the tool. Overall, the bagless upright is extremely easy to use and clean. The main flaw is not being able to use the attachments. If not for that, I would readily recommend this vacuum as an excellent value for the price.

The tools should definitely work properly. The good news is your cleaner has a 2-year manufacturer's defect warranty. Visit http://hoover.com/locator/ for a list of service and warranty dealers.
I can't believe how much this vacuum sucked up the 1st time I used it! It grabbed so much cat hair I was astounded. I am a neat freak, so was blown away by how much my old Bissell 12-amp bagless had missed. I was so happy to use this one, I vacuumed TWICE just to see how much dirt I collected. ha ha. It is So easy to use, the tools are fantastic. I especially love the powered hand tool to clear pet hair from my chaise, sofa, chairs, cushions. This thing has such great suction, it grabbed pet hair from far away while I was using the tool on baseboards! Easy to empty, though I use a damp papertowel to pull out pet hair that doesn't easily drop out. No prob! I am thrilled to have made such a good purchase at such a bargain price.
I have owned this for about 5 years. Cleans very well and has a long cord. I did break the bottom latch to the dirt cup recently. I just have to be careful when I remove it to empty. I do empty every time I vacuum.
Loved the vacuum when I bought it but after about a year the thing overheats and shuts off. I have tried changing the filters and looking for clogs but nothing helped. It will run now for about 10 minutes before it shuts itself off. Very disappointed in this product.

Hi mgiarr, I see you mentioned you've searched for possible clogs and changed the filters but I would like to provide extra steps that may be helpful and will get your cleaner working as it should. First, remove both ends of the hose off the cleaner. Run a broom handle through hose to knock out any possible clogs. Return hose to cleaner. Remove dirt cup and empty. Open dirt cup lid by pushing up on a small lip located underneath the Hoover emblem. You will see a foam filter. Rinse filter under warm running water, then sit on it's side and allow to air dry for 24 hrs. Remove any carpet fibers or debris from underneath the cleaner where the brushes are located. Hope this helps!
I just got my new Windtunnel bagless upright. Pretty easy to assemble. Good clear instructions on assembly and use. Shocked at how much it picked up in one small area! Delighted at its power. Don't even mind the ugly color! Now, if it will just last a good long time...
