I purchased this model in December of 2012 for the ease of use and the fact that it is bagless. I have had to already replace the belt and I also have the over heating problem (I have checked for clogs and there have been none) so I don't understand the shut down. Now when you turn the vacuum on it screams like a freight train. I can't stand the ear peircing sound so I've gone back to using my TriStar that is 30+ years old but is always there when I need it! Frusatrated and unsure what can be done with this WindTunnel but I think it should last longer than six months.
I bought this vacuum because I loved the features on it such as the cord rewind, the button that locks the hose in and all the extra attachments. But that's where the love affair ended. After a few uses the belt that spins the bristles slipped off & kept slipping off after putting it on repeatedly. The filter keeps indicating that it is dirty, after cleaning it, it still marks red. The hand held bristle brush never worked. The vacuum has also lost suction, even after unclogging the passage ways. For the price, this vacuum is definitely NOT worth it.

I was really happy with the machine when I received it, but have had to replace the main belts twice already (not a big deal), but each time I replace the belts the machine gets LOUDER and Less efficient in regards to suction. However, my main annoyance is the fact that the "Air Powered" extension brush is useless. As soon as the brushes hit, for example, the sofa arm or any piece of furniture the brushes STOP rotating. It's kind of silly when you think about it. As soon as you lift it off the surface the brushes zip to power again. If I was vacuuming air that'd be cool, but I'm not. I'll use this until it breaks then buy something completely different.

Matthew, it sounds like there may be some debris jammed in your unit. Can you check the power tool brush and belt for possible jammed debris?
Instructions are listed on pages 11-13 of your owner's manual, http://hoover.com/file/570/
If you don't see any debris, make sure the brush roller is installed correctly. This can cause the noise and affect your suction.
If that doesn't work, give us a call at 1-800-944-9200 Monday-Friday 8am-7pm EST. We can walk you through some additional troubleshooting steps.
After we bought this vacuum it worked amazing well for about 4 months and then lost suction. It doesn't even have enough power to get anything through the hose and into the canister. I would not recommend this for anyone with kids and/or pets.
Like someone else mentioned, the suction was not as I expected, especially using the tools. Additionally, the filter tray keeps popping out and I have had to tape it up. I still have an old Hoover (with a bag). Its probably over 20 years old but still seems to do a better job than this one.
I bought this vacuum 5 years ago and it finally gave out on me. This is the longest a vacuum has lasted me for I vacuum a lot!!! I tried 3 different vacuum, different brands and more expensive, and not one compared to my old vacuum. I missed it so much that I had to go online to Hoover's website to purchase another one. I would highly recommend this vacuum. =)
I purchased this a little over a year ago and it is awefull! It plugs up and you have to take it apart at least every 2 weeks. For some odd reason there is nothing big plugging it up just hair and dirt. The design is all wrong. The top filter plugs up on the inside? No clue why this happens. I empty the cup after every room but it still plugs up and gets real hot. 920 sf of floor space and I have to empty this after every room? The cup is on 1/8 full to keep it from over heating! Nothing like the old wind tunnel I had with the bag.

Hi lamoneta! Oh no, that doesn't sound right. We want to help. It may be that the filter iis dirty or may need to be replaced if its been a year or more. We recommend washing the filter with water after every 4-6 uses, and once washed, allowed to dry for 24 hours. If further assistance is needed, please feel free to reach out to us on Facebook or Tweet us @HooverUSA. We're here for you!

Sounds like a plane is taking off in your house it is so loud. Also, the hepa filter keeps popping out when you are using the vacuum. Everyone in my house hates this vacuum. Save your self time and do not buy this vacuum. It is not worth it. This vacuum sucks, but not in a good way!
