I bought this 3 months ago. I've already had to have it fixed. but it was minor. the only thing that bothers me is when it comes to emptying. It's a real pain; I get filthy from trying to get all the dirt down and into the trash. It takes a long time and I have to find a wooden spoon or tongues to use! I empty it every time so it's not like it's stuck in there; it's just difficult to reach. For that reason I would not recommend this product.
After the simple assembly I did a test run. It picked up all kinds of dust which is much to my surprise as I just vacuumed the house 3 days prior with a Bissell upright. Some reviews complain about it lacking a light but I don't vacuum in the dark so it's a non issue for me. Love the auto cord rewind.
This product works good if you are just pushing it around using the normal vacuum method. However, once you decided to use the extension wand, I hate this vacuum. First off the suction is too strong causing the extension tube to self contract making it impossible to stretch out the wand without the vacuum pulling with it. Everytime I vacuum in the corners or under something I just want to drop everything, go to the store and buy a different vacuum.
The only reason we bought this is because we are getting new carpeting and need one with a manual height adjustment. We looked at ratings in Consumer Reports and on-line. At first we were going to go with a Shark but then saw This Hoover had better all around ratings. Our other vacuum is a Dyson which has tremendous suction but no manual adjustment. We haven't got our carpeting yet but I vacuumed the house with the new one today. Did the carpets, did a great job. I went over some with the Dyson and it only got a very little more dirt. Almost none. Here are what I was disappointed with. 1) No suction only mode. 2) No hard floor tool for hose. Would be nice for vinyl floors in bathrooms/kitchen. Attachments included are very minimal 3) VERY hard to handle on stairs if not using "turbo brush" 4) turbo brush slows and stops, has little usefulness. Our Dysons turbo tool wasn't any better. Also, when emptying, if there is pet hair (which we have) or carpet fibers mixed in with dust/dirt, you have to dig it out. It won't just shake out, at least not easily like our Dyson. If you don't have pets or stairs and only carpet to clean, this is a great vac.

Cannot beat the price for this product. Excellent suction, easy to assemble and use. Lightweight and powerful. You do need to clean the bagless cannister after each use (use the brush to pick up all of the debris. Have had this vacuum for over a year). I did have to replace the belt (easy to replace, but can only purchase thru Hoover website)and the turbo hand tool no longer has suction (still trying to figure out why). Compared to more expensive models, this is worth the price
Worked wonderfully. For one week. Please understand I own a small townhouse that should take no more than 20 minutes to vacuum. This cleaner quits after about 10 minutes, and, after hours, will start again. And, while it picked up pet hair, dirt, etc, for a week, it now picks up nothing. And I've had it only two weeks.

Worked fine for about 1 yr until I replaced the Heppa filter, bought genuine hoover part but filter kept popping out I have to use duct tape to keep it in place. I have bought several replacements with same results. Vacuum also started blowing dust and dirt out of side of the vacum, so I am now unable to use vacuum. Will not buy another Hoover
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hi Jmglnc! Oh no, the HEPA filter shouldn't pop out during use. We want to help. If you're experiencing dust/debris blowing out from the machine this can contribute to the HEPA filter popping out. This usually indicates a clog in the hose or filter. The clog can cause a backup in pressure that can pop the filter out of place. Please give the following steps a try:
1. Rinse the primary filter located under the dirt cup lid with warm water and allow it to air dry for 24 hours before using. 2. Remove the HEPA filter and tap out over the trashcan. Do not rinse. 3. Disconnect both ends of the hose from the unit and use a broomstick to clear any debris. 4. Check the inlets behind the dirt cup and bottom nozzle for any obstructions and remove.
Once completed the unit should no longer blow out debris and the HEPA filter stay in place during use. For optimum performance we recommend changing both the primary and HEPA filters every 6-12 months. If further assistance is needed feel free to give us a call at 1-800-944-9200 M-F from 8a-6p EST. We're here for you!
It picks up and throws it out the back. It hurts your back to use the attachment. You really have to be a midget to use the attachment Hard to snap the canister back when you empty it. The only thing good is the retractable cord
