Life saver after the coldest Xmas Eve in NJ shore
on December 24, 2022
Posted by: BobbysNJ
12/23 into 12/24 2022, the wind (40-60mph) and 6° Temps had my one room so cold that the drafting was making my heater run over time. Remembered I have this unit I plugged it in and it is such a savior. Takes a bit to heat up but it’s doing the job after five years of collecting dust
I would recommend this to a friend!

Nice Simple Design - worrisome burning oil smell
on November 1, 2023

When I fire up this unit after it has been in storage it throws off puffs of wispy white smoke and a smell of burning oil. The unit was stored upright and never turned on its side. I have it plugged in, and running, to an outside outlet on a concrete pad to see if the smell abates. I was happy to see that there was no more smoke. These issues have me worried about using this heater safely
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Using as added heat in living room. Like the added feature of a "thermostat setting". You can set it at a temp, and it will maintain that, instead of the heater fluctuating. Still has the high/low settings. Works great!
We've used these heaters for more than 30 years. This is our fourth, after the first one finally failed--the switch started smoking. Looking inside I found the insulation on the wires dried, cracking and falling off. But after 30 years, maybe 40, I'm not complaining. The heaters work well, being used to supplement heat when needed in very large rooms in a drafty old farm house.
We have this in the finished part of our basement, it's perfect for that area (about 250 SF). I had it on over the weekend to supplement the heat pump in the unfinished part of the basement and it WAS warmer down there but 500 SF is a little beyond its limit. Love that its silent.
