Have two very expensive air filter machines. Have had two filters so far with a bad smell. Read several reviews prior to making my own and it looks like it’s a similar issue we are having too. People are having the same issue we are. What is the issue? We are on our second filter and having the same issue!

HI there! Thanks for reaching out and we're terribly sorry for the trouble here. The odor thing effects a small percentage of our filters (and that of any filter manufacturer). What you’re smelling is the non-toxic fume from the organic adhesive used to construct the actual filter. For years we’ve been making our filters at a warehouse we own in China and are now working hard on bringing production here to the states to eliminate this very issue. Please reach out to our Customer Experience team and they will replace that smelling filter free of charge at Info@Blueair.com

My wife and I suffer from environmental and dust allergies, and this filter vastly improves the air quality in our home. I highly recommend it. A new filter produces a very slight odor (from adhesives used during manufacturing, so I heard), but it disappears after a few days of use.

I have used a Blueair for thirty years now. In the beginning the filters smelled great when first changed. For about ten years now they have not smelled good when first put into the machine. It is a ritual for me now to spend four days running the machine on high during the day, and then at night switching back to the old filter (because the machine is in the bedroom, where I need it). Finally the smell goes down enough so that it does not make me feel ill. After about 2 weeks the smell is gone. The machine still works so I continue to buy filters for it and I do need air purifying in the bedroom. In the basement we have an IQ Air which works fine down there, not sure it would be a good fit for a bedroom. Not sure what else to say. Would I recommend this to a friend? Maybe, maybe not.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
