Awesome Projector - stands up to rough handling to

We purchased our projector in 2010 -and it has traveled extensively during these years. I used it for work presentations - it's light weight with a nice carrying case, very easy to set up, reliable, and has a great picture. We use it for at-home viewing, projecting it on a white wall for an awesome, large, crisp picture with great colors. We've taken it on family trips/vacations and project movies on the hotel walls too. This projector has had sticky hands all over it, been dropped at least 3 times, stayed on all night, etc. I finally overheated it because I didn't realize there's a filter on the side of the projector that has to come out and be cleaned. My brother just demonstrated it to me and the dust was so thick, I was awestruck that it worked as long as it did. The bulb still works - but there's a huge purple circle in the center of the screen. Time to replace after 920 hours of viewing. With better care, I'll bet it would have lasted longer.

EX71 Multimedia Projector

One of the best investments I've ever made in my life. Fantastic color... even with lights from windows shining in room. Ease of image and picture adjustments to projector. Connects seamlessly to HDMI (PC), TV input and USB. I use the projector for TV viewing and more, as my desktop monitor for my PC. My eyes have grown significantly worse as my diabetes progresses. The remote is easy to use. the projector, though minimal, is very easy to maintain. After having dealt with a minor noise, initially, I found that one of the settings remedied the issue due to watching movies via Media Player... easy and insignificant. Beautiful colors even after having used Lamp Hours of 31 Normal and 2280 Eco. I would recommend this product as well as any additional products from Epson. Great product as was support. I will buy again. My suggestions... Make certain Lumens are minimally 2500, replacement bulbs are economical, use Epson online application to make certain projector fits needs for projection size. Do your homework and check against all other projectors you might think you're interested in. Thumbs up!

Not a great projector

Bought this projector thinking it would be an improvement over my ViewSonic inexpensive projector in picture quality. This was not the case. There was no picture quality difference that I could see and if anything it was worse because of the differences in "throw distance". Beyond living with a smaller picture on my projector screen because of the throw distance (no matter what aspect ratio the picture took up less of the screen top to bottom and the black bars increased), the projector is NOISY! If you set it on the brighter illumination setting the fan is VERY noisy. Also it make a weird "clicking" noise as the picture goes from dark to light. I can only assume that is the LCD part of the projector as the old "color wheel" in my ViewSonic never made that kind of noise. Most frustrating is now the bottom right of the projected image is noticeably higher than the bottom left even though the picture is perfect across the top. I tried all the adjustments in the manual (including cornerstone) and finally contacted Epson technical. After telling me to try all the things I already had tried, they said I needed to send the unit in for service or replace it. This unit does not have near the hours my ViewSonic had nor is as old - it is old enough to be out of warranty however and I don't want to spend a lot of money trying to fix it. BOTTOM LINE - I won't even consider buying another Epson projector when I save up enough to replace this one.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
