It said it would print 300+ pages and I haven't even printed 50 and my printer is already showing that my ink levels are low
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hi,
I am sorry to hear that you were disappointed with the page yield. The estimates of pages printed are based on industry standards. How the cartridge will perform in real life situations will vary quite a bit.
Unless the cartridge was damaged or defective, the ink usage will determine how long it will last. High-density prints (such as photos) will require more ink, especially if the paper is highly absorbent and the environment is dry.
That said, I have a few tips that might help lower your ink usage: - You can use the printer's draft mode and black-only settings, whenever possible, to save ink. - Shutting the printer down between uses can also help; however, always use the power button on the printer itself to turn it off. That lets it ‘park’ so that the printhead is protected from excessive drying.
If you believe that the poor page yield was due to a defective cartridge, please contact us at: hp.com/contactHP
My only wish is that the cartridge s would last longer. I do not use the print function daily and it seems the ink dries out after 2 or 3 months. I print maybe 60-80 pages over a 3 to 4 month period. The color cartridges always dry up.
