NOT Disappointed!!!

This camera lives up to all the hype and performance boasts that I read and saw when I was researching this purchase. The ease of use straight out of the box is amazing, and the quality of the pictures, even with the digital zoom, is above and beyond what I expected. Speaking of the zoom, it is one of the primary reasons I bought this camera and I have been very pleased with the focus response, even at extreme zoom variations.
Pros: zoom and ease of use.

Great action shots

I have used this camera less than a month and I am already taking professional quqlity photos. I take a lot of photos on the golf course. Once the focus box appears, there is absolutely no delay when you press the shutter button. The shots with the golf ball coming off the club face were fantastic, and routine to take. My previous camera had a delay which made timing difficult.
I am also impressed with the range and light uniformity of the pop up flash. Much better taan my previous one. I bought it primarily for the immage stabilization, and 20X zoom. The great action shots were an unexpected bonus.
Pros: good battery life, Good Low-Light Performance, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Simple controls/menu, easy to use, no shutter delay
Cons: Heavy/Bulky

You Get What You Pay For.

My expectations may have been a little too high. 12.1 pixels will not give you a better pic than the 10.1 rebels that sport the cmos sensor as oposed to the ccd that the power shot uses. The PowerShot will produce a pic that is noisier than the high end models despite the 12.1.
But read your manual and LEARN the camera! This thing is capable of taking some amazing shots and the device has features designed to allow you to do just that. For the price and an intermediate user, you get great features that are comparible to an EOS Rebel, IMO. The Lense is Superb and easy to use.
If your on a budget and want great shots for a project, dont be took quick to judge. While not quite professional grade like canon's slr camera selection, you could get away with shots that look the par. I take my photos to photoshop programs regardless anyway so its not a big deal for me.
Pros: Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, easy to use, great pricing

Upgraded from SX31s - so far has proved to be a fantastic choice - excellent all around - no manual you can pack in your back a bummer though.
Great alternative to carrying my DSLR for those spur of the moment occasions while still delivering images of comparable quality.
Pros: good battery life, Good Low-Light Performance, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, durable, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, easy to use

LOVE this camera!

Got this camera for Christmas and LOVE it! Very easy to use and takes spectacular photos. The one thing I do NOT like is the fact that the flash does not flip up automatically . It must be raised manually, and at that time it will fire if needed provided you set it to automatic. Just a habit that I will need to get into...flip up the flash as the camera is turned on. That is the only thing that doesn't make sense to me...other than that I cannot say enough about this camera. I have 2 boys who play sports and I needed a camera that will take great action shots and has a high quality zoom. Can't wait to take it to the next basketball game!
Highly recommend this product!
Pros: Good Low-Light Performance, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: no auto flip flash

Bridges the Gap
on February 18, 2010

I borrowed one of these from a friend for the day, and took quite a few pictures with it. It is a step below an SLR, but a step above a point and shoot. It has a nice pop-up flash and zoom, as well as a hot shoe for the attachment of a speedlite. It works well to bridge the gap between a point and shoot and an SLR, so I would recommend it if you are on a budget, but want something better than a Point and shoot. If you want the capability of taking RAW images or switching lenses, you'll need to move up to a Rebel, but if you aren't ready to spend so much money, you should get one of these.
Pros: excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: Missing features/settings

Unbelievable number of features.

This lightweight 20x telephoto has more features than I will ever be able to use. The package does not have an instruction manual, but you can go to the Canon camera site and download the 160+ page manual. I have owned a Rebel 35mm SLR and considered the Canon DSLR's, but thought this may be much simpler for me and other family members to use. You should use a tripod for the sharpest photos at the maximum telephoto range, but you can get some great hand held shots with the Image Stabilizer feature. I took a photo of a dove in the back yard, at about 60 feet, and you could see the roughness of it's legs. I tried one short movie clip and the picture and sound were outstanding. The only issue I have with the camera is the lens cap that just cannot stay in place. I have had to back track and find it a couple times.
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, durable, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable
Cons: lens cap comes off easily.

Outstanding Camera

I love the zoom capabilities and the overabundance of features. The only thing I have a problem with is the slight delay in the image capture. I often take candid shots of my active grandchildren and miss the moment I’m trying to get because of the delay.
Pros: Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, easy to use
Cons: delay of image capture
