Great Camera!

This is my first experience with a digital camera. I purchased it because I was going on a cruise to Alaska. I've been practicing with it all summer. I thought my old 35mm SLR camera took great photos, but the quality of photos that I've been taking with my new Canon is outstanding. I can't wait to take more photos with it. From panoramic scenic shots to photos of my dog, I'm satisfied with them all.

Great buy for the money

I found it is a good general-use, everyday camera. I bought it because it is a smaller camera than my 50D and less heavy and easier to carry. The zoom is a wonderful feature! Good quality images, but not as sharp as my 50D.... and not as fast on continual shooting. Love the movie feature! Great video and sound!
Pros: add a pro

I purchased this camera before a vacation. It takes excellent photos and is easy to use. I especially like the zoom feature. It allows me to get great shots from far away without compromising quality. I definitely take my camera along with me more often now.

Good for serious, but not very experienced user

I bought this camera for my trip to Africa. I wanted an easy-to-use camera that would be good for shooting wildlife, scenery and action as I would be at the World Cup and on safari.
After I got home and viewed the photos, I was generally pleased and put down poor photos to my inexperience. So, I have some brilliant shots -- color and clarity, first rate, and some not-so-good ones -- I was surprised that several seemed a bit shaky, especially because this model is supposed to have an image stabilizer and I was trying to be extra careful.
The lens cap definitely was bothersome, not only because it is not tethered to the camera, but because sometimes it was difficult to put on properly.
The few movies I took were brilliant! The sound and picture very good.
I found the software easy to use and compatible with the various sites I wished to upload photos to for sharing or creating projects.
This camera performed very well for my purposes and I would recommend it to someone who wants to take really good quality photos with a decent zoom for a reasonable price. If you can't afford a digital SLR, this is defintiely the way to go.
Pros: good quality images, easy-to-use software, decent zoom, great movies, value for money, user friendly camera
Cons: lens cap unattached and difficult to put on, image stabilizer??

The camera is so easy to use and the articulating screen is one of the best features of the camera, you can position it in any way and still see what you are taking a picture of even if you have it above your head or down at your knees. I would recommend this camera to any hobbyist or professional.

I bought this camera mainly because of the viewfinder. The one I had been using did not have one and when in sunlight I could not tell exactly what I was aiming at. After seeing the pictures I get with this one I am glad I made the change. I love the way it zooms in on subjects with very little blur even at a long distance.
I would highly recommend this camera. It is well worth the money.

This camera is amazing to say the least. This is my first "nice" camera. I've always owned a mediocre digital camera...but never something that does this much. The zoom on this is PERFECT and the quality is great. The only thing I could complain about is.....the fact that Canon doesn't sell attachments for this camera. You can add an attachment but it has to be from a different vendor, which is really upsetting because I like sticking with the brand name stuff. But other than that, the camera is great.
Pros: everything
Cons: no attachments made by canon
