Love this camera!!!!!

I have had several digital cameras, including a Nokia SLR, and this is the best camera by far. The zoom is amazing and the quality of the picture once it is downloaded is awesome. Easy to use, lightweight, on screen cheats tell you what you need to do to get the best shot. Only thing I have found I do not like is that the lens cover is not attached and if you clip it on the neck strap like suggested in the book it is easy to lose. I also like the way the lcd screen can be turned to the different positions. I love this camera!!!!!
Pros: good battery life, Good Low-Light Performance, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, durable, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: lens cover not attached

Outdoor Images Amazing, Indoor so-so
on December 28, 2009

This camera is great with outdoor images. The foliage feature is great for feathers and leaves, as well as animals in the water or in the air. The zoom works great outdoors. As you zoom in, the image quality doesn't decrease! Face detection is great. Auto mode is useless. Macro is also poor unless outdoors, like shooting small insects. Amazing colors indoors and out. Low light indoors is poor unless with flash, then it's perfect. Like the pop-up flash but you have to lift it manually. viewfinder is amazing. The LCD is so bright but adjusting the angle is a little awkward. Menus are a bit complicated but the hints at the bottom are extremely helpful for amateurs. By far, the clickwheel is the most unique feature of the entire camera. it' so helpful for flipping through menus and reviewing all the pictures. Overall I would rate this camera 8/10. Great for anybody.
Pros: excellent image quality, durable, Bright LCD, outdoor images, flash, 20x zoom
Cons: Missing features/settings, Poor Low-Light Performance, bad macro, sometimes can't focus

Amazing in Africa

Excellent value. My best purchase for my recent trip to Africa for 3 weeks "in the bush" - the zoom was great for capturing every animal - I never even used the binoculars I'd brought along. Great battery life (never went down when using non-stop every day - charged in evenings and even went more that a day when I forgot)! I literally left on my trip a few days after the purchase and learned to use by starting to take photos - very easy to use. Only negative was not the best performance in low light situations. Love the swivel LCD screen, but mainly used the optical viewfinder. Sweet camera!!
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, good battery life, durable, great zoom, stitch panorma, pop up focus in optical viewfinder, edting features on camera
Cons: Poor Low-Light Performance, Heavy/Bulky

Very good camera

This camera is an upgrade for me from a Canon G3. The zoom lens is phenomenal - 20x is almost unheard of in digital cameras. Even though the lens has some barrel distortion at the wide end it still performs well overall and zooming in slightly removes most distortion. There is also a slight softening around the edges at full wide angle. Most of these can be fixed in PSE or similar software.
The metering and focusing systems work very well in almost all situations. The few that cause trouble would also be problematic for anything under $2k in cost. Once you learn HOW to use the camera you will find it easy to get great pictures. It is much more than a Point-n-Shoot pocket camera.
I especially like the WIDE 16x9 mode, HD movies and HDMI port. These allows me to shoot 16x9 images and HD movies, then view them on my giant HD TV in all their glory. THE best way to enjoy your camera output by far.
I am using the new NiZN rechargeable batteries from PowerGenix and they work much better than any NiMH because of the higher voltage (1.6 vs. 1.2). I wish the camera menu had a battery-type selection so you could get full use out of NiMH batteries - the camera shuts down before they are fully drained.
My only other con is poor low-light performance, but that is typical with all digital cameras - just a fact of life. I use Neat-Image to clean up noise in low light shots.
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, durable, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, easy to use, great zoom lens
Cons: Poor Low-Light Performance, no battery-type selection

So glad I got this one

I saw this camers in the paper on Sunday, read all the reviews on it. It seemed like people either really liked it or didn't, I decided to go look at it but was going to wait to buy it until more people reviewed it. I went to the store on Monday, after holding the camera to see if it was to heavy, (not at all, but I am not used to a little camera so that maybe why it didn't seem bulky to me) looking at its features, talking with the sales person, I decided to give it a chance. Am I ever glad I did ! I love it, the biggest problem I had with the quality of some of the pictures I took was me, not the camera. A few more tries and I was off and running, it is great ! I have taken over 200 pictures with it already and am very happy.
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality
Cons: i miss the extensive user manual, and i wish there was a cap strap

just got back from vacation and camera got a full workout! Easy to use and carry with using the auto function tooks pictures that are so amazing that I was able to blow up and print to use as wall art. The zoom was great. able to take clear pics of top of Myan pyramids without having to climb pyramid!. was able to pick up the fine details of stone carvings that hundreds of years have worn down. Great beach shots as well as nite activites. Even strangers who took shots for me were impressed with the features. and batteries lasted the entire trip
Pros: good battery life, Good Low-Light Performance, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, durable, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use

I originally thought that this camera might be too heavy/cumbersome to carry around with me but I have found no difficulty in doing so. I appreciate the strap to carry around the neck and it's comfortable. This camera is to replace my Canon A620. I researched this camera purchase extensively and found that I liked this camera best out of the others for zoom, variable screen and the comfort of holding the camera with one hand because of Canon's design, like the Canon A620. The zoom on this camera is incredible. I no longer am bummed about sitting further back at concerts because with the zoom, I can get real close and take pictures just like I was in front of the performer and the quality has not been compromised. I also like the image stabilizer as sometimes shakiness can really get in the way of a great picture. I've also been having alot of fun with shooting videos now...something I've never done before and they come out great. I'm just doing really short ones but they still come out great. I do recommend getting rechargeable batteries because if you use it alot then you don't want to keep buying new batteries. So, it turns out that my research wasn't a waste of time as I made the right decision. So, for the record, I am extremely happy with this purchase. I just couldn't find another camera that could compare to all of these features that I really like. By the way, I am not a professional photographer...just your average person that likes to capture photos of events, family, friends and pets. This camera makes me look like a professional though and there's nothing wrong with that. :-)
Pros: good fit for one hand holding, love the variable screen, good screen size, love the zoom capability, excellent photo quality, love the image stabilizer, great for videos
Cons: no hard copy manual, no lanyard for lens cap, wished continual shooting was faster, wish flash was auto instead of manual

LOVE This Camera

I own several cameras, but other than my older professional film type Canon this is by far, my best. This was a Christmas gift from my husband and I truly love it!
It has fantastic features, it's easy to use, great for beginners and professionals and I cannot say enough about the quality. The photos and video are superb!
The supplied software is also easy to use and has good options for editing both photos and video. The batteries supplied do not last very long, but I keep the good ones on hand anyway. It comes with everything you need to get going, except a memory card, but if you're like me you already own one.
The built in flash works perfectly, but you can purchase an additional one if choose.
I do not think anyone would be disappointed with camera; I love mine!
Pros: Good Low-Light Performance, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, durable, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: Short battery life
