I would recommend this camera to anyone who is starting out in Photography. It has the potential of a SLR. I love the photo quality and the way my pictures come out. To me, it's not that heavy, I've carried camera's that were a lot heavier. The poor low light performance, well, I'm no professional, so it could be me. The price may be a little costly, but it's well worth the price. As for most people complaining about the lens cap not staying on or no place to put it, there is a latch on the back of the cap that hooks right onto the shoulder strap. For someone like me starting out, this is a great camera and I'm proud to say I own one. My last camera was the Canon Powershot, about 5yrs old. It was time to upgrade to a newer model of the Powershots, something that had what I was looking for and I found it in the SX20 IS. I've only had the camera for a few months and in the short time I've had it, I absolutely love it. So far, I haven't had problems with the battery life. You definately want to get a memory card for it. As with most cameras, it does not come with one! I don't know why people would expect a camera like this one to come with a memory card!! This camera is in the middle of slr and a little fun camera, so naturally it's not going to come with a memory card. Every function on this camera is wonderful. I have fun when I take pictures with my camera. I can see this camera will be lasting me a life time of fun memories!
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, durable, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
This camera is probably the best one i've every had the chance to get. Its got very good quality to the photo's, and playing around with it has been fun and easy at the same time. Now when i got Mountain biking with friends i can get great quality footage, and its small enough to fit in my pack. I think the thing about it that was most appealing was the flip screen. So many times when i video people taking a jump on a bike i need the screen at a different angle so i can angle the lens accordingly.
A MUST BUY!
Pros: good battery life, Good Low-Light Performance, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, durable, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use, a good solid feeling
Overall i am satisfied with quality of images and other stuff. I am still a new bee for photography but i like the fact i have 20X mega Zoom and 12.1 Mega Pixal. Will update more about after i use it more. It is little bulky and am not used to keeping LENS CAP . A Bit difficult to use compared to point and share cameras but have to admit the fact they do not give this ZOOM and Quality.
I have used this camera less than a month and I am already taking professional quqlity photos. I take a lot of photos on the golf course. Once the focus box appears, there is absolutely no delay when you press the shutter button. The shots with the golf ball coming off the club face were fantastic, and routine to take. My previous camera had a delay which made timing difficult. I am also impressed with the range and light uniformity of the pop up flash. Much better taan my previous one. I bought it primarily for the immage stabilization, and 20X zoom. The great action shots were an unexpected bonus.
Pros: good battery life, Good Low-Light Performance, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Simple controls/menu, easy to use, no shutter delay
After having cameras stolen in Greece and "dunked" in the Amazon, I don't travel with high end DSLRs. The SX20 IS is a wonderful traveling companion. Images are very high quality, especially using the "vivid" color setting. Without pushing the battery limits, 2900 mAh rechargeables produced >300 images. Using a capkeeper add-on prevents cap loss, but the lens cap is not well designed. Not being able to use screw-in filters is a negative (though some reviews indicate a 52mm filter can "screw-in", the lens-front grooves appear to be cosmetic and parallel, not screw-type). The IS allows very slow speed night shots and the Ultra-sonic motor is very fast focusing. Image processing speed prior to a next shot is a bit disappointing, but, much faster than the technology of a few years ago. The LCD is very bright, control options quite comprehensive and construction is solid. Overall, an excellent piece of equipment.
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, easy to use
I researched this type of camera and narrowed my search to 3 brand names. My daughter has a Canon and is very satisfied with its performance in all respects, this was the deciding factor for me.
I have not been disappointed with its performance and I would happily recommend it to anyone else.
I am not a photographer but this camera will make me one. I like to take pictures of sunsets and sunrises and the ones I have taken with this camera have great.
The ease of operation and learning to get the most out of this camera are a big selling point for me. If I dont want to take time to change settings, I just shoot on automatic and the images turn out great.
I expect to get years of use from this camera.
Pros: Good Low-Light Performance, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, durable, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
From the minute I started to use my new Canon SX 20 is i started to fall in Love with it. The easy use of operating this camera for me with just a very short time spent with the download of the user manual was very important to me. Having this great camera & then also being able to shot full HD movie in one package (camera)could not get any better for me. I will be 43yo soon & this is my 3rd Canon Power Shot camera & so far my favorite. The construction of the camera is very well made but that tends to make it a little heavy. But even that dose not really bother me when you see the quality of the photos this camera produces. I also recommend to purchase the 3 lens filters w/the camera , they do make a huge difference if you plan to use this camera in different conditions. I hope to have this Canon Power Shot SX20is for very long time to come & would recommend this to family & friends!!!
Pros: good battery life, Good Low-Light Performance, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, durable, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Easy to use right out of the box - although you need a memory card since there's no internal memory. Greta features - took excellent pics the first time I put it to the test at a soccer game. Easy to use video feature also.
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, easy to use
