great camera for people who are going from point & shoot to advance. decesion factor was built in 20 x opitical zoom which is great. still learning how to use the camera, trying to firgure out the short wait with the auto focous/flash mode on, other than that love it. The menu is easy to use and understand, and so far the pics have been really good
Pros: good battery life, Good Low-Light Performance, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, durable, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: Heavy/Bulky

I usually shop with Kodak or Fugi because of their prices, but my Christmas Gift this year was for a high tech camera from a reputable manufacture. I chose the Canon. I wanted one I could have extensive zoom for photographing song birds and raptors. The Canon SX 10 came to my mind but notice Canon had just put out the SX 20 and it was actually a better deal. I am still learning with this camera but already it has proven an outstanding choice. Very durable, high quality and my photos have excellent up close shots. You will not be disappointed. You must first read the inst. to see all the different choices you have with this camera. Once you are familiar you will love it!
Pros: Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, durable, Bright LCD
Cons: price

Love this camera

My Canon EOS non-digital wasn't working all of sudden. I was on a trip and took 9 rolls of film. Researched many Canon products as I finally decided to go digital. Settled on this one and got it 2 days ago. I love it. It didn't take long to figure out, the booklet could be a bit more expletive, esp. if some aren't too familiar with this sort of camera. Even though it's digital and one can shoot pics willy-nilly and just delete the not so good ones, I don't do that. I compose and shoot. I love the color change feature as you can take a pic and switch it to B&W or sepia which I really like or use other colors, what have you. Even though this is not an SLR it's doing the same job as one. I've had Canon cameras since 1980 and wouldn't buy any other brand.
Pros: Good Low-Light Performance, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, durable, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: Short battery life, i would get rechargable batteries

No Instruction Book
on December 14, 2009

I was extremely disappointed to find no instruction manual in the box when I bought the camera. There is a quick start guide, but it didn't say that you have to manually lift up the flash if you want to use the flash. The CD has the instruction manual on it, and you can print out the whole thing if you want to, or just the pages you think you might need, but that is extremely inconvenient. I didn't have a computer available when I really wanted to learn how to use the camera.
I finally called Canon and they promised to print one out for me and send it to me in 4-6 weeks.
Pros: Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu
Cons: no hard copy of instruction manual

"This was purchased as an upgrade to my previous Canon Power Shot. I needed some more advance features and this camera had what I needed, wanted and some extra. It's easy to set up, use and has not let me down. I choose this model due to my previous experiance with this line of camera's. I'm not ready for a totally DSLR. Maybe soon, but this will let me learn as I go and will be great as I get ready for the next level. I use it for my business and the pictures are great. Getting ready to buy a bigger flash. This is a great camera, lots of MP and Zoom."
Pros: good battery life, Good Low-Light Performance, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, durable, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: non-teathered lens cap

You Get What You Pay For.

My expectations may have been a little too high. 12.1 pixels will not give you a better pic than the 10.1 rebels that sport the cmos sensor as oposed to the ccd that the power shot uses. The PowerShot will produce a pic that is noisier than the high end models despite the 12.1.
But read your manual and LEARN the camera! This thing is capable of taking some amazing shots and the device has features designed to allow you to do just that. For the price and an intermediate user, you get great features that are comparible to an EOS Rebel, IMO. The Lense is Superb and easy to use.
If your on a budget and want great shots for a project, dont be took quick to judge. While not quite professional grade like canon's slr camera selection, you could get away with shots that look the par. I take my photos to photoshop programs regardless anyway so its not a big deal for me.
Pros: Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, easy to use, great pricing
