Review of SX20 IS
on November 7, 2009

Great camera, could use rechargable battery pack. Zoom is crazy good, need a tri-pod for stability at distance, but 80X....wow. Requires ample time to repaeat flashes. Needs settting for REAL BRIGHT, otherwise needs filter. Options don't include Filter recommendations, but there are threads on lens to accomodate. Where's the battery meter????
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, zoom zoom zoom
Cons: no battery pack of battery meter

Not a pro, but a grandma who loves taking pictures. This Canon Power Shot SX20 IS gives professional results. Love the zoom feature - it's amazing how close I can zoom in. It acts almost like binoculars! Love it and would recommend it to the world.
Pros: good battery life, Good Low-Light Performance, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, durable, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use

Nice but could be better

I have owned many Canon products over the years. I have always loved the cameras. I currently own 4 canons. I must admit that i really love the versatility of the sx 20is but i was very disappointed to find that the camera doesn't offer a super fine compression or raw option. My brother owns a sx 10 is and i think that he gets slightly better images than i do with the sx 20. hopefully canon will realize that they made a mistake by not including better compression options and include it in a future firmware update. I might just go back to the sx 10.
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: Poor image quality, Poor Low-Light Performance

Replaced a DSLR with interchangeable lenses and got more firepower than before. Easy to use with fantastic results - and I haven't even tried all the settings yet.
I've owned Canon cameras since 1968 and this has to be the best yet.
Pros: good battery life, Good Low-Light Performance, Nice features/settings, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use

great camera for people who are going from point & shoot to advance. decesion factor was built in 20 x opitical zoom which is great. still learning how to use the camera, trying to firgure out the short wait with the auto focous/flash mode on, other than that love it. The menu is easy to use and understand, and so far the pics have been really good
Pros: good battery life, Good Low-Light Performance, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, durable, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: Heavy/Bulky

Not big upgrade

We had PowerShot S3 for the past 4 years and were not happy with lots of out-of focus photos so we went for the hunt for the replacement and even were ready to get an SLR but everyone recommended PowerShot SX20. It is a great camera but there are few pros and cons comparing to the old model. PROS-HD video, better zoom, larger LCD. CONS-bulkier, lens cover easy to loose, still not adequate image stabilizer, on/off button easy to be turned on without your control, too vibrant colors on the screen, and finally the time of ready to use is longer than the previous model which does not help if you have kids or want to ketch the precious moment. Overall a good camera but could be better.
Pros: good battery life, Good Low-Light Performance, durable
Cons: Heavy/Bulky

Another great Canon camera

Finally getting the chance to put this camera to the test and after some not so great photos (totally my fault) I am getting pics of pro quality, i.e. very sharp crisp pics, very satisfied. The only thing that is disapointing is that the camera doesn't accept filters to protect the lens.
Pros: Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use, has hot shoe for external flash
Cons: have to print user manual

Great camera! But, where is the owners manual?
No owners manual included, only a pdf file. Not great for carrying around in you camera bag.
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, durable, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: Poor Low-Light Performance, no owners manual
