Canon SX 20 IS

I am well pleased the Canon SX 20 IS. I also use Nikon D40 and an Olympus. I have a Panasonic ordered. Any of the cameras I have used can take a good picture. The SX 20 has many manual functions, so you can tweak your pictures with your photo skills. I find if I choose a 200 ISO instead of the 400 ISO the camera chooses for indoors the pictures come out even better. This is a good selling point for the Canon, that the user can override the automatic functions of the camera to achieve a better shot when necessary. The user who has lest experience with a camera can still shoot some better than average pictures using the SX 20 on AUTO. The SX 20 is a good all around camera with a 20X zoom that works well for nature photography and sight seeing trips. If you don't need the zoom, the Canon SX 120 IS is a great little camera. If I didn't need the zoom, I would go for SX 120 IS
Pros: Good Low-Light Performance, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, durable, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use, auto override, great zoom, hd movies, rotating lcd monitor, a lcd and a viewfinder
Cons: Short battery life, how about some lens filters

To me, this camera is perfect. It is easy to use. The directions for use are easy to understand. The pictures it takes are excellent. I am not a professional photographer, but I have posted pictures where my friends ask me if I have had professional training. I give a great deal of credit to the camera. The downloading and editing software is also easy and intuitive. You do not have to sacrifice quality of picture for ease of use. And I insisted on quality of picture as my number one priority and I got it. The ease of use was just a pleasant surprise.
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life, durable

My Canon EOS non-digital wasn't working all of sudden. I was on a trip and took 9 rolls of film. Researched many Canon products as I finally decided to go digital. Settled on this one and got it 2 days ago. I love it. It didn't take long to figure out, the booklet could be a bit more expletive, esp. if some aren't too familiar with this sort of camera. Even though it's digital and one can shoot pics willy-nilly and just delete the not so good ones, I don't do that. I compose and shoot. I love the color change feature as you can take a pic and switch it to B&W or sepia which I really like or use other colors, what have you. Even though this is not an SLR it's doing the same job as one. I've had Canon cameras since 1980 and wouldn't buy any other brand.
Pros: Good Low-Light Performance, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, durable, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: Short battery life, i would get rechargable batteries

This camera is awesome!!!! I purchased it in order to take better action shots of my 3 kids. Also to be able to take better indoor pictures at plays, church, etc... It is so easy to use. Any parent, this is a must if you are looking for an upgrade from the smaller cameras. I found that I enjoy the different modes so much that I have went to different locations to take scenic shots as well. It is just fun to use and a great investment.
Pros: good battery life, Good Low-Light Performance, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, durable, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use

Love the manual mode where you can adjust the aperture in order to brighten up the scene when taking a picture in low lighting. Great zoom capabilities I can zoom in 20x and still have a very clear picture. I love this camera best one I have owned yet.
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance, good battery life, durable
Cons: need a string added to the lens cap

First off, I'm an advance amateur photographer. This helped to get familiar with the buttons for the next set of DLRRs. I absolutely love this camera. I love how the screen flips, and you can take your picture seeing it's results already. It's quality is definitely stunning outdoors, or in any place. Images are SUPER clear, Easy buttons. I love the HD movie mode. All the greatest features out there all combined in this one camera- without the harsh price.
Pros: hd 720p movie mode, image stabilization, outdoor shooting, super macro, av aperture mode, price, quality, ease of use, pre-dslr kind of camera, everything!!!!!
Cons: tiny flash, unchangeable lens :(, no rechargeable canon battery

Great Camera!

Although some people have been giving this camera a poor rating in terms of image quality, I find the images to be very good and just what I expected from this camera. I've had to tweak the My Colors settings to get a more contrasty, sharp image, and I really don't see how it's any worse than the SX10.
I think Canon should have kept it at 10 megapixels to keep noise down a bit, but it's certainly not as bad as it could be.
Handling is great and the lens is better than I thought - images were pretty sharp at full length although some CA is present at times (not enough to worry about).
I've compared this camera to my G10 and, yes, the IQ is not as good, but it's what I expected considering the sensor sizes in both cameras. The G10 is a notch above and should be.
The HD movie capability is really nice to have and the IQ is excellent.
If you're looking for a very good family/vacation camera that does it all, then you will find it in the SX20.
Pros: easy to use, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, good battery life, good lens, hd video
Cons: Poor Low-Light Performance, Heavy/Bulky, outdate lcd size and res, no pc controlled shooting, no raw file support

I recently upgraded from a powershot A520 to the powershot SX20is ... WOW ... the zoom outstanding ... the delay between shots very short ... on auto the camera shows when it adjusts from taking object close up to far to portrait ... its really awesome. The night i got the camera i put the batteries in while i was in the car, powered it up and the first thing i tested was the zoom .... about a block away there was a traffic light i sat in my car and aimed at the front of the car and i could see the plate when i look at the cars because of the headlights i couldnt even see the plates from that distance, when i look back at the lcd i saw it again and i just though amazing ... just thought id share that
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance
Cons: Heavy/Bulky
