got the camera about 5 months ago absolutely love it. If you are looking for a zoom camera and the hd video recorder powershot sx20 is is the way to go. the quality of the pics are very good especially videos. The battery life is also good when using rechargeable batteries. still playing with the manual setting and other functions. I am a newbie so it has kept me well busy with all the different setting that you can do with the camera.
Pros: good battery life, Good Low-Light Performance, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, durable, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: heavy to carry

I am a complete camera novice. I was able to take the camera out of the box and in minutes was taking quality photographs. I took action photos that were crisp and clear and actually caught the action I was trying to capture. The zoom is amazing. I was able to capture images from 1/4 mile away that were suprisingly clear and stable. I even took a picture of a plane flying over head. All this on the auto setting albeit on a bright sunny day. I know this camera is packed with features I have yet to use, but after using it once I am very satisfied. I love the adjustable display. It is a little bigger and heavier than I initially wanted, but well worth the compromise. The only negative I can come up with thus far is the lens cap does not fit too securely and has a tendancy to fall off. Other than that I am very happy with this camera.
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, good battery life, durable
Cons: Heavy/Bulky

upgraded from S5 IS

The only thing I did not like was no paper manual with camera, takes too long to get CD read.
The camera is larger by a little but I like the extra weight for steadiness, holds better and takes sunsets much better, would replace it instantly if anything happened to my current SX20 IS, super performance, great pictures, works just as I hoped.
Pros: good battery life, Good Low-Light Performance, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, durable, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use

VERY GOOD CAMERA

This is the fourth camera I have owned and my third Canon. I have been taking pictures for a hobby for the past 20 years and have found this camera to be a very good camera. I take great pride in shooting great photos due to I take shots at ceremonies such as weddings, sweet 16s, etc. However, in order to shoot great photos one must practice utilizing all of the features and practice with different settings. I spent two whole days experimenting with the different settings and for a point and shoot camera I was impressed. For example, the flash can set from low, middle and high. That simple feature alone can make a difference, in addition to the aperture, shutter speed, and ISO settings. I highly recommend this camera for a point & shoot. However, like other Canons I have purchased, I would have preferred having the written manual instead of a CD so I can take the manual wherever I go.
Pros: good battery life, Good Low-Light Performance, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, easy to use
Cons: Heavy/Bulky

My second Canon digital camera and it has met all of my expectations. I was looking for a camera that would let me shoot in low light situations in gyms and etc,, where my grandchildren were participating in sports and school programs and this camera delivered.
Pros: Good Low-Light Performance, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, easy to use

Great Camera

My husband and I were looking to upgrade our camera (we have a Canon PowerShot that is about 5 years old). We are not camera enthusiasts-we use are camera for everyday purposes-so we didn't want to make the jump to an SLR. Instead, we opted for the Canon PowerShot SX20 IS. It is a beast of a thing, yet sleek enough to still operate comfortably. It is a lot more camera than we are used to, but it has so many cool features and takes such beautiful pictures that it makes it all worth it. One of the main features that attracted us to it was it substantial zoom. Anyone who has ever owned a digital elph knows that the pictures are clear, but there is virtually no zoom capability. This model has a 20x zoom, and even at its max the pictures are crystal clear. Overall we are both happy with this camera and are looking forward to many years of capturing memories.
Pros: good battery life, Good Low-Light Performance, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: Heavy/Bulky
