Okay, the cats can stay!!

Is my girlfriend a crazy cat lady? Probably not. Borderline cat hoarder? Not quite. Cat lover? Definitely!!! And I am now that I can breathe again!!!
Things got pretty ugly when I gave my girlfriend an ultimatum about getting rid of her cats because of my allergies. But after looking at other alternatives including many air purifiers, we settled on a Blueair 500 series. At first I was concerned about the the cost because there were plenty of less expensive brands to chose from but after reading reviews and discovering that even hospitals use Blueair purifiers I went ahead and bought one. Five years later my Blue Air purifier is running like a top, I can still breathe and we have even added a couple more cats.

We purchased the BlueAir AV501 system a few years ago and it still works great, we live in Southern California across from a flower field and thanks to this system it cuts down on the dust and pollen and helped with allergies. We do need to vacuum the outside grates frequently which is to be expected however there is no access to the inner parts such as the fan so its caked with dust and possibly reducing the life of the filters... Another issue is the noise, we have ours located in a large room and in order to adequately cover the air we need to have it on high, very loud.. Also the cost of the filters have gone up and it appears the quality of the filters have gone down, but thats the case with just about anything these days, why should BlueAir be any different.. All things considered I rate this as an average product.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I'm very sorry to hear that you are unsatisfied with the 501. The noise level shouldn't be as high as you are mentioning. The "dust cake" is causing the noise. Please call our Customer Service Department at 888-258-3247 to properly assist you and your unit.

Benefits for Asthmatics

I have been an asthma sufferer for years and finally followed my allergists instructions and purchased an air cleaner for my home. The Blueair air cleaner we purchased has been incredible! Even just the difference in the amount of dust on things in the room has significantly decreased! My asthmatic symptoms have decreased and the amount of medication I have to take has also been reduced. I am extremely thankful for my blue air cleaner. As soon as I can, I will be purchasing another unit for our den!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Couldn't live without it

Ever sense I've put the Blueair in my home, I've taken significantly less allergy medication, often going weeks without needing them. The build quality is excellent, strong and durable and after a year+ of non stop running, the machine is very quiet.

Cleaner air in house

We have had our purifier for over 12 yrs. It still works as it did when new. We keep it bedroom for better sleeping. It keeps the air cleaner and reduces odors from pets and helps with allergies.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Lasts forever

We bought a 501 over 13 years ago, and it's never had any problems - still working well. This was an extravagance when we bought it, but considering how long we've had it, it has been an amazing value. We belong to the filter club - incredibly handy, because I would never remember to change the filters without it. (I love changing the filters, because then I see how much dust we didn't have to breathe!) We have a small house (1100 sf) and one filter is enough for the whole thing. I highly recommend this company.
