Sparking

Has worked great for about 3 years but the light underneath burnt out quite quickly and now I went to use it tonight and its sparking out the top I was scared it was going to set me house on fire I had to unplug it

Made to last only 5 years?

This Whirlpool microwave was brand new when we bought in 2014. Last night I went to make tea & my microwave just made a LOUD TICKING SOUND & SHUT OFF after 3 seconds! I followed all of the troubleshooting recommendations with no success. This microwave is completely USELESS AFTER 5 YEARS!!! I will never buy Whirlpool again!

Not once, but twice

We bought this microwave and shortly after the warranty expired it stopped working when it would no longer recognize the door was closed. Chalking it up to bad luck, we bought the same model again because it's difficult to find other models that fit our over-the-range space. After buying a second brand new microwave, we had the same exact issue shortly after the warranty expired. Needless to say, I wouldn't recommend it.

Problems, problems

Within first year service repair had to be called. Within the next six months this unit has become VERY unreliable. Foods and liquids heat unevenly. At times they are undercooked and take 3 times as long to heat correctly. At times heating up liquids are either too cool or too hot ...using the same exact time for heating. Mostly they are too cool. Rarely does anything heat up correctly. On a couple of times the time changed on it's own. It went from cooking for 1 minute jumped to 10 minutes all by itself. It happened to both myself and my husband. As I stated this is a very frustrating and unreliable product. I am very disappointed in Whirlpool!

Terrible reliability

This family member lasted less than 18 months before saying good bye to its cousins (fridge, dishwasher, stove) in the kitchen. First to depart and afraid others will soon follow the same destiny.
It happily generates heat through polarization of hydrogen & oxygen atoms and brightly shines at the range beneath.
It lost its luster after 6 months and darkness descent upon stove. Finally it no longer sending penetrating waves but sending buzzing noise instead.
No heat only after 18 months!!!
Bye Bye Whirlpool Microwave, and hope you don't drag your cousin with you.

Door full of cracks

The functionality of this microwave is fine. However, the entire door is covered with cracks. It's only used by 2 people and we are not in the least bit hard on this appliance. You would think by looking at it that we've slammed the door shut, full-force. We keep this thing in pristine shape as far as cleaning it so it's unbelievable that the whole door is damaged. We'll eventually be forced to buy a new one based only on this problem - not because the oven doesn't work.

Sleek front

I wanted this micro as it is very simple no bells and whistles. It is still a lot bigger than my old one from 20 years ago. It is easy to use and I have had it for over a month now and it is functioning well. I use it every day. The panel is very simple and there are additional instructions inside the door. The fan is very strong and the filter easy to remove and clean. I wish the light was a bit brighter.So far easy to clean and no smears.My only problem with the modern micros is they tend to stick out far beyond the cabinets, as does this one.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Doesn't heat after only 14 months

Liked this product when I first bought it a little over a year ago. Now after 14 months of ownership it has stopped working. Only came with a 1 year warranty so now I am stuck. It does not heat any food anymore. Angry that I have to now check how and see if it is more cost effective to repair or replace. I will NOT buy whirlpool brand again.
