Not just DVD

This unit has many options that make it more than just a DVD player. I stream movies directly from Netflix all the time. Place a Blu-ray DVD in the unit that supports BD-Live and free content gets dowloaded for your enjoyment. (Internet access required) Picture quality was excellent but unfortunatley my TV only goes to 1080i. I already own a Playstation 3 that can play Blue-ray but I wanted a standalone player and this unit added so much more. It also alerts you when new features are available and you can dowload new firmware when available. The price point was also good.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Bought this 1 1/2 years ago and I now have to purchase a new Blu-Ray player because of serious skipping issues. I don't know if I will buy another Samsung Blu ray player.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Firmware is flaky

I've had my BD-2550 for almost 3 months now. I agree with all the other reviews in regard to the picture quality. However I have an issue with the firmware. I have been through 4 updates of the firmware now and the last one has left the player extremely flaky. Twice in the last week the player will turn on and no video or audio will output to the TV via HDMI. I can confirm the audio via the optical port to the stereo. I have to power cycle the player to get the HDMI output to work.

After reading that I can watch Netflix on a Samsung blue ray i had to check it out. After much rersearch i bought a bd-p2500. I hooked it up and ran to the video store for some blue rays. the picture and sound are awesome. When I plugged in the internet, the player downloaded the latest update available.Than I had to try netflix,it loaded the movie I wanted and the picture and sound are hi-def quality. My friends and family are amazed that I can choose a movie without leaving my chair. Easy to use, and great quality.

purchased this primaraly because of the Netflix capabilit.
Hook up was streght forward no problems, Picturequality was outstanding coldn't exspect better .

Had to download and upgrade firmware to make it Netflix capabile. Used USB methoid, worked flawlessly. Web site provided directiond helped. The hook up to the net work was easyer the I exspeced, used automatic dtection. Once set up to network I connected to Netflix and activated the player via funished activation code. I then tried conncting and using Netflix, worked like a charm. In wraping up Blue Ray Picture Very Good ,

WOW the quality is AMAZING!!! The first blu ray I watched was 21 and the picture was so much better than a regular DVD. I watched 21 a few months ago with my parents on a regular DVD then I got the movie in blu ray for Christmas and the difference is unmatchable! The picture is much crisper and just a better picture all together! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

The box said it hab dts-hd-ma, but that was not in my p2500 and it still will not play a 7-1 blue-ray disc.

i am very glad i brought this blu -ray.i will stay using samsung .products my first movie i watch was ironman i was completely blow away .my second movie was 300 was next .i could not believe how this blu -ray brought the screen to life.
