GE will send incorrect model

Buyer beware. This trim is for a slightly older microwave model. The trim kit they will ship is for the newer microwave model AND the incorrect width (we ordered the 27", they sent the 30"). When we went to install it, we realized it does not fit. We called up GE and were told that it is for the newer model, and they no longer make nor have inventory of the correct one. I am not sure why they are sending out the newer one knowing that it is not compatible. GE asked me to call a different department to correct their website, and I subsequently have been asked to call 3 separate departments. They do not seem to be concerned about correcting this. I never give bad reviews, but would like to keep this from happening to someone else.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Bought this along with 5 other GE kitchen appliances. This frames my microwave with/to my oven to create a combo appearance.

Trim piece open at top - mounting screws visible

This trim piece would be ok if the oven were mounted on the wall with top of trim higher than eye level. Unfortunately, our oven is mounted in a cabinet enclosure that is lower. The top of the trim is less than 4 feet above the floor, so standing in front of the microwave, there is a large opening above the trim and you can see all of the mounting hardware, screws, etc on the interior of the trim. The mounting instructions state that you shouldn't block this opening. You need to leave at least one inch clearance so heat can escape. I am now forced to try making some sort of trim piece (that will look good) that I can attach to my cabinet above the metal trim piece that will block this view of the hardware, without blocking the escape of heat and creating a fire hazard. I wish the trim had been designed in a different way, maybe like our previous trim piece that had slots in it for heat escape.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
