We bought the whirlpool duet washer and dryer a month ago after our 15 year old top loader died. We did a lot of research on both consumer reports, talking to appliance repair service agents, hardware store reps, and reviewing reviews online. Ultimately we went with the Whirlpool for the good ratings on consumer reports and online reviews, it's longstanding history with washer, and modest price. We are very happy with the purchase - I had no idea how clean my clothes WERE NOT getting until I started washing them with this dryer. My son's favorite blanket was a permanent grey (supposedly from an overabundance of love and sticky fingers); but one wash in the new washer turned it bright white again. Amazing.It comes with about 5-6 pre-set wash settings, but I like that you can still customize most settings to your specific wash temp, soil level, spin speed, etc. Noise is not a factor for us at all - our washer is on the main floor in a closed room just off the kitchen and family area and with the door closed I barely notice the noise, if at all. With the door open it is also not overly loud- comparable to a dishwasher. A heavy duty load or sanitize load takes about 1hr20; but a normal wash is only 45 min. And because clothes come out so much dryer than your typical top loader the dryer cycle is extra short, so overall I don't feel like I'm spending a lot more time waiting for laundry than I was before.Overall I would recommend this product- I primarily gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because I have only owned a short time, so can't speak to it's longevity.

We really put a dryer through it paces. Lots of loads each day for support a large family. This dryer is keeping up with the work load we ask for it. Great product for our needs. The best part is the easy to use control panel.

The dryer does a great job of detecting when clothes are dry and turning itself off. I think we are saving a lot on our utilities because of this.
