this is the second brother xl2600i-love it-work my machines hard and this is a workhorse of a machine and very affordable. only complaint is that the bobbin case, etc. are plastic and not as durable as metal.

The reason that I am excited is I have a new sewing machine. I have always had Singers machines before. I saw a picture and a description of my Brother XL2600i in a catalog. It sounded fantastic, so my husband ordered it. In just a little over a week, the machine was at our house. When I took it out of the box to set it up, boy was I surprised. The instructions book and the machine were very easy to read and set up was a snap. I couldn't believe that I was setting it up by myself. From step one to finish, I did the complete set up. I sewed a curtain for my brother. He said it looked great. I am ready to finish a couple of other projects now and keep myself busy instead of just doing it as a hobby. Thanks, Brother, for a renewed interest in sewing!

Excellant ourchase

I had a top of line Kenmore, purchased some 35 years ago, and reverse gear went. Rather than put money into repair, as I don't sew like I use to, I began a search for a reasonable machine I could use for little projects. I researched several, & decided for the price & what was offered,(most of which I was looking for) this machine was a good choice. I might change some things, or add some, but for what I needed the machine for, it really fills the bill. Had some issues at first, but worked everything out ok. Have added some extra presser feet. All in all, I am very pleased with this machine & would recommend it to anyone looking for a basic sewing machine.

I am loving my Brother sewing machine model # XL2600i . It was so easy to get set up and get started on my projects . As a new grandmother , God Mother and pet groomer I have many projects I am enjoying doing. I love creating my own decor through out my home . Some things I hired out I can now do myself now ! I am a crafter as well . This machine is big enough for what I want to do and small enough that it is not in the way. I would recommend this machine to anyone . It meets all my sewing needs . Great Machine

Love this machine, as a beginner I didn't want something that was too difficult or techy to figure out, this machine fits that bill perfect. I love the top loading bobbin as well. I haven't figured the automatic threader as it is hard to see what is going on, but threading it the old fashion way works just as well. Great machine!

Brother Makes Great Machines

For the price, this is a great machine. It would be a wonderful starter machine for young and old alike. It would also make a great travel machine if you have an RV or vacation home. The dials are simple to use as is the needle threading and bobbin. Is it quite? No, It is a manual machine not computerized. I purchased this as a spare. My beloved computerized machine is 15 years old which makes parts hard to find when it breaks. With this machine I can still make simple clothing repairs, make quilt tops or hem a pair of pants while my beloved machine is in the shop. My computerized machine is also a Brother.

The fact that this sewing machine is so much lighter than my old one is very nice...much easier to carry and get set up to use. I love the easy to use bobbin and really have enjoyed using the machine. The only thing I am having a hard time adjusting to is the location of the pressure foot lever and thread cutter. On my previous machine they were in a different location and apparently I developed the automatic response of expecting them to be in the same places on this machine. Time to break that habit!
