I was disappointed this mixer does NOT have the SmoothStart feature as started in product info when ordered and on box. The mixer starts at normal speed. I am keeping but would not have ordered without this feature.

This particular mixer was recently recommended in Consumer Reports. I'd been thinking of buying a hand mixer for a while but was uncertain as to which one I wanted with so many options. And since it's a Cuisinart I knew it would be a good purchase. The beaters must be put in as per instructions as they each have their own slot. Just an FYI. It works just great!

I love the thin mixers, but the motor has a plastic gear that breaks easily if you try to mix anything thick, but it does great on thin liquid batters.
