PC vs MAC

Fantastic for PC. MAC? Look elsewhere. Fine print identifies functions that don't work on MAC such as SCAN from computer. I failed to read the fine print before purchasing as the ads said MAC compatible. Doesn't seem that "some things" are and others are not equates MAC compatible.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Less-than-friendly User Interface

On the plus side, this printer is capable of reliable, high quality printing, scanning and faxing. However, there are a number of issues, primarily software/user interface aspects, that need improvement. These are:
1. In printing, when a print job reaches the print preview display, there is no way to directly change or correct any of the printing properties. That is, in order to make any changes or corrections the user has to completely cancel the job and start all over. This is unlike any printer interface I have ever used, in which printing property changes could be made from the preview screen without having to cancel the job.
2. When sending a fax from a pc, there is no positive feedback indicating that the fax was successfully sent. There is a status message stating that the fax is being sent, but the message merely disappears when the job is completed. The only way to confirm that a fax was indeed sent is to go onto the (separate) Fax Utility menu and query the Fax Transmission Record to see if the fax is there and was sent. A simple "Fax successfully completed" message, possibly including the time, should be included in the status message.
3. In the Fax Utility - Fax Transmission Record menu, there is no option to save a previously-sent fax as a separate file (e.g., as a .tiff or .pdf file). This option should be included to allow the fax to be written onto an external memory or sent as an e-mail.
4. On the front panel of the printer, the LCD readout should be backlighted or changed to an enhanced-contrast display. The current display is extremely difficult to read dim lighting.
In general, the Workforce 310 seems to be a dependable printer, but any product/software upgrades should concentrate on making it more friendly to the user.

I have read other reveiws and in a lot of them people complained of excessive noise. The printer has a quiet mode setting and the noise level is very low.
I use my printer to print letters and spread sheets. If you print letters it is nice to have instructions on how to print envelopes. Need more instruction on this task.

Very Good All-In-One

Comes out of the box ready to go. Just remove a couple shipping tapes, plug in the cables, add the furnished ink cartridges and print.
Works well with Windows7 64bit. Good quality pictures and printed documents.
The paper feed is very noisy, but so far no jams.
I like the "straight through" paper path.
Sending faxes from the PC is very easy.
I have not yet received a fax, but the system is set up and I expect it will work fine.

Very Nice

I am an artist and when looking for a printer I wanted something that was a reasonable price as well as giving me great quality prints, I found that with this printer. It was very easy and fast to set up and the display is very easy to understand. The first thing I printed was a wedding invitation with an extremely detailed victorian background and it printed out beautifully!
Only con: can be a little loud when it prints and kind of big for my desk.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Awesome all-in-one printer!

I have used many "all in one" printers, and this one by far has surpassed all the others for the price. I love the ease of faxing and scanning directly from your computer / laptop and the product looks awesome. The repalcement ink is a bit pricy but that seems to be the same for most printers of this price range.
I have really liked this printer and would recommend it to my family and friends (and have done so, and they too have purchased and like it).

Clear, precise pictures/Takes time turning on

From a photographer's point of view; pictures printed are beautiful, especially if you use special paper made for pictures. Bright reds and pinks wow, amazing yellows and oranges, fantastic sky blues, true forrest greens and thoroughly wonderful seafoam greens and true to life hues for the oceans. It's almost better than real life. Colors pop!
The only complaint if any, is the time it takes for the printer to turn on and that it's a little noisy printing.
I would recommend this to a friend!
