Amazing quality

I've had this printer for 8 mos. and I am surprised (in a good way) every time I use it. Both B & W, and color rendition are superb. Inks are expensive, and certain colors always run out quickly, not sure why. That aside, this printer is all that you need for pro quality prints, unless you need to print larger than 13" x 19". And to answer another reviewers complaint, yes, you can print 11" x 14" or 11" x 17", when you go through Adobe LightRoom, in their print module. EASY! Certain papers are hard to find profiles for, but you experiment, and you get the results. LOVE it!
Pros: reliable, High Quality Output
Cons: Large Footprint, high expense

Large Prints

Easy to use. The only heartburn I had with it was getting it to front load thich stuff. I should be able to press one button and everything goes instead there is a series of steps with time outs. It can get very frustrating. From the rear - no problem. Also I would have liked to see an overall glossy finish instead of a series of individuals high and low spots. When I look at a photo developed at some drug store the finish product has an even overall glossy look. This printer doesn't do that.
Pros: High Quality Output, High Productivity, Low Running Cost, durable, Easy Setup, easy to use, reliable
I would recommend this to a friend!

Be prepared to spend major money on ink

This printer is a money pit. It seems like I replace ink cartridges as often as I use the printer. Also, the ink cartridges that it says need to be replaced look half full when I take them out. Furthermore, you cannot print anything, even in grayscale, when one color runs out. I am extremely disappointed with this purchase, and surprised more people have not mentioned the exorbitant cost of ink.
Pros: easy to use
Cons: Slow Print Speed, Large Footprint, Low Quality Output, unreliable, ink! ink! ink!

Calibration is a nightmare
on December 20, 2012

I'm a professional photog, and although most of my clients just want the digital files, some times I need prints.
I suppose if you use Canon paper, it probably works out of the box, but I like a particular paper made by another company and I spent a fortune trying to get the prints looking right. Each time I thought I was close, I printed a different photo and it was way off. So here's the secret:
Rent a calibrator from one of the places that rents camera lenses. One of the calibrators that is commonly available from any rental house will calibrate your monitor first, then you run it over the printed test sheets. Save the profile. Well worth the price, but you shouldn't have to go through this just to use a printer that costs this much.
With that profile you are good as long as you use that same paper every time. Switch to a new paper you will need to recalibrate. The prints are incredible, once you get it dialed in.
Also, I have to reset my print spooler every single page I print. I made a batch file to do it, but I only have to do it for the two canon printers I own. It hangs like the printer is offline until start and stop the spooler service.
Pros: High Quality Output, fast print speed
Cons: Difficult Setup, expensive to calibrate

Extremely substandard website

Extremely difficult, if not impossible to find out if my printer has any software updates. Company site is useless.
Size and price of ink is rediculus. Price per tank should be less or size of tank larger.

Best Photo Printer Ever!!!

As an anniversary present, my husband bought me the Pro2000. We had just returned from a photo safari to Africa and I had taken 2414 photos on the trip. I printed out a few on my older printer and was lukewarm about the results. After setting up the Pro 2000 and printing out a few photos, I was astounded at the difference. The clarity and color were superb. My son even remarked that they didn't really look like photos, they looked like high quality paintings. Thank you Canon. I have the printer of my dreams!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Eats ink like crazy

I needed a printer that would print 13 x 19. The trouble for me is that I only need to make these prints once a month or every other month or sometimes longer. It seemed like every time I used the printer it needed me to replace one or more ink cartridges. I came to realize that if you don't use the printer the ink simply disappears (evaporation?). This is probably a fine printer for someone who uses it all the time, but for someone who doesn't, the cost per print is astronomical. I'm giving it away to anyone who will take it and plan to send out for prints when I need them. I believe this will be more economical for me. I suggest that if you do want to purchase this printer that you remove the ink cartridges before you store it for any length of time and keep the cartridges in airtight packaging. Not sure if that would prevent the problem but I know leaving the cartridges in between uses is a total waste of money.
