LEAST favorite Sonicare I've owned so far!

I've been a loyal Sonicare user for almost 20 years now - I absolutely love them!! I'm on my 5th or 6th model (which I have no problem with how often I replace them since I use them every day and travel with them often#. But this one is extremely annoying. I received this as a Christmas gift from "Santa" so I can't return it.
This model replaced my previous one, the Elite 9000 #I think# which I thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend.
I do like the extra time on the "Clean and White" mode, but that's about it.
This is my first model with the "new" brush type #the one snap on as opposed to screwing on#. One difference I immidiately noticed was that you feel the vibration much more on the handle than the "screw in" brush head models. Not a huge deal, but something to get used to.
The major annoyance is how it operates - you have to push the on/off button several times depending on what mode you want. For example, if you want the "Clean and White" mode you must press the button THREE times #with the brush in your mouth#. When you're done brushing, and just want to turn it back on to rince the brush you turn it on #one button press#, but to turn it OFF you need to once again press it THREE times.
On more than one occasion this has resulted in water spraying all over the bathroom & mirror. On my past 5+ models you only ever had to press the button ONCE, which makes sense! And everytime you begin to brush, it always defaults to the <standard> Clean Mode #mode #1#. There should be a way to change the default to Clean & White mode - that's why I bought this model!! But, no, you need to press the button 3 times to get to the C&W mode.
The other issue is where the "mode indicator/lights" are placed - on the front of the toothbrush, which is where they probably should be, but you obviously can't see them while the brush is in your mouth. Again, never a problem in the past but when you need to remember what mode you selected or to know how many times you need to press the button this is useless. As all Sonicare users know, you cannot take the brush out of your mouth while it's running. Apparently if you press/hold the power button for 2 secs it will turn off, but something else you need to remember with this model.
And if you turn this one off #ie - need to pause your brushing for a moment for any reason#, unless you use the "2 sec hold" to turn if off, when you turn it back on the "Smart Timer" resets.
Bottom line - annoying!! I can't wait to replace it #in ~2-3 years, unless it succumbs to an unfortunate "accident"!!#.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

good cleaning, not so good mold

I switched to Sonic Care last year when my old electric brush stopped working. It works just fine, but the black mold started building up inside the brush, on the rubber end where the brush heads connects to. It is not properly sealed and water gets in.
It has been fine for half a year then mold suddenly built up, although I cleaned the insides of the brush the same way I did before. There are many other people with this problem, so it is definitely a constructive problem.

My only regret is that I didn't buy it YEARS ago!

I bought this about 9 months ago and have since turned 80. Maybe the reason dentists don't push this product harder is because it would be to their own detriment. In retrospect, I don't feel I have ever really brushed my teeth until I bought this.
I only gave it a 4 rating on Design because I can't see changing the brush based on the color change of a few bristles. I see no significant difference when comparing it to a new brush. If I don't make it to 100, perhaps I'll regret my decision.
Pros: really cleans!, easy to use., the timer is a great idea.
Cons: nothing significant

Messy

This new head design sprays all over the place, no matter how careful I am with brushing. Have had trouble with the spindle design and brush heads not going down the whole way.
Liked my old model much better. The rubber is giving away and it holds water. Brush heads too expensive.
I'm going back to the old model with the screw-on heads.
Cons: messy unsanitary brush heads defective and expen

Whitens, brightens and cleans

This toothbrush does exactly what it says it'll do. My teeth turned a few shades lighter within a week or 2 or noticeably so within a month. This toothbrush far exceeded my expectations. A bit of TMI but I always felt there was a weird taste/smell in my mouth when I used conventional toothbrushes however with this toothbrush I felt my mouth was clean and fresh - no more weird smell or taste! Thank you Philips for giving me my confidence again!
Pros: whiten, brighten, cleans

We love it - but a few flaws.

We love and have used sonicare toothbrushes for years. Several had the on off switches go bad, breaking away from the housing. They were replaced (hurray for customer service), but seems like a flaw that should be addressed. The current ones we have claim that if you turn it off and back on in less than 30 seconds, it will pick up where it left off. It is all too easy to hit the switch by accident - but they do not pick up where they leave off, they start over, even if immediately turned back on. Frustrating! I love the pro-results whitening mode, but must go through the whole 2 minutes again to get there if I hit the switch by accident. Engineers to the rescue??
Pros: great cleaning, comfortable grip, compact head size
Cons: restart feature doesn't work, easy to turn switch off when changing direction
I would recommend this to a friend!

poor quality

This my 3rd Sonicare. The first lasted 10 years. The second 5 years and this third one less than a year. Seams developed gaps and where you push the on- button tore. It just suddeny stopped working. I can't beleieve the decrease in quality since my first Sonicare 16 years ago. I am using a throw away, battery operated brush now and am much happier with it.
