Great for home automation

I purchased these to experiment with my home security cameras. Before the TecTiles I would go around the house and power down the security cameras, all of which are wifi connected, or I would access each one and turn the motion sensing off and turn them to face the wall. Then when I would leave the house I would do all this in reverse. After a brief self-education on cgi code, I programmed the TecTiles with the camera's URL and the specific cgi codes I received from the camera's manufacturer. Now when I leave the house I pass the phone over a TecTile and all the cameras move to a preset position and the motion detection turns on. When I get home, I pass the phone over another TecTile and all the cameras turn to another preset position (facing the wall) and the motion detection is turned off. The possibilities are endless. I love this RFID technology!
Pros: Inexpensive, Durable
Cons: intemidiate url knowledge required for programming
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great idea...with poor results.

I am guessing that the concept of the tags is to have programmable functions for your phone for different locations in your life. The programming piece of the app seemed to work with a little confusion. The pre-programmed Home/Car/Office are sitting in the My tasks but when you push add new task it adds another title. I thinking that if I push add task it would ask which task mode "Home/Car/Office" I would like to add it to.
The most disappointing piece to the tags is the difficulty I have been experiencing when attempting to scan the tags after they have been programmed. I have to tap my phone to the tags 15 to 30 times to get the NFC function to recognize the tag. At this point I am so frustrated because I could have made the changes to the phone faster manually.
Again...I love the idea.
Cons: does not work consistently, nfc functionality hinders the product intent
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
