Wow! This is Amazing!

I originally just wanted a big TV to replace my 10 year old 60 inch rear projection television. I probably spent 2-3 months comparing all the different brands and sizes of the new LCD and Plasma TVs on the market before making my decision. My old TV was on its last legs, but still working, and I have not cared about the picture so much. For me it was always about having excellent sound from my home theater. Picture quality had previously been an afterthought.
I went with the Samsung because it had excellent authoritative reviews, incredible specs, the right screen size, and seemed to me to be the very best value on the market for what I was looking for.
I have now owned the TV for about 6 months and I have to say this audiophile has now changed his tune about the value of an excellent picture. I have examined my TV in about every way possible and could not be more happy with the picture and the features it offers. I had read "don't buy a plasma if you have too much light entering the room." The TV is mounted on a wall adjacent to another wall that has large windows all the way across. My picture still rocks, is still very bright, and has very little glare -- and this with the brightness at the midway point!
I have to say, I just can't possibly imagine ever having a TV that could produce a better picture than what I am getting and I must say that blue ray disks output through this TV are beyond amazing!

I've had the set about 3 weeks now, I replaced a SONY 60" LCD rear projection. I am one of those SONY TV only guys. Until now, I did all kinds of comparsons and this Plasma came out on top. The picture is beautiful with deep rich colors. I love the black levels. At the stores when you look at the Plasmas next to the LCD, the LCD's are always a little brighter, which makes you lean to the LCD. I know because I just did that a few months ago for my bedroom TV. I shopped and shopped then, and ended up with a SONY XBR LCD. It is too bright in the house. My new Samsung looks much better at home in real life use. It is VERY bright too (lights up the whole living room with all lights off), but it's not too bright! Perfect! Perfect! Perfect! If your going between Plasma vs. LCD......Go Plasma.

Bigger and better

I upgraded from my 50 inch Samsung DLP to this 63 inch plasma. This larger size is my new standard - I can't look at a smaller screen again. I've also reset my quality standard - the brightness and color of this plasma will not be outdone by anything, until OLEDs are large enough.
When I turned on this TV for the first time, I was just kind of speechless. I wondered, "will this seem way too big in my room? Can I get used to something that's 13 inches larger diagonally?" After about 1 second, the answers were obvious. And when I connected my 1080P gaming system to the screen, I just sat and stared at it - it was that realistic.
All of this even before I have calibrated it with my friend's professional system. There are many user adjustments right from the main menu and you can make the colors, white balance, and black levels just about anything you could want.
Oh, I wish I could connect to the internet, but the size really does matter more and I went with this model for that reason. And I don't hear any buzzing either, even when I get real close.

We have had this TV for about four months. We have owned an do own many televisions. I'm a TV junky. We replace TV's every couple of years as the technology changes. The picture and features are outstanding. This was our first Samsung product. Yesterday we purchased a 32" Samsung LCD. Tomorrow we will be purchasing a smaller 42" Samsung Plasma and Blu-Ray player. Good by Sony hello Samsung.

Truly an "Eye Opener"

I would say that this Samsung PN63B550 is the brightest screen with the deepest blacks I have ever seen in a Plasma television. My television viewing room is surrounded by windows that allow a great deal of light. When I turned on this unit for the first time I was impressed with the brightness, which surpassed my expectations, as well as the deep colors and anti-glare feature, which works beautifully in my extremely bright room – needless to say that the night viewing picture is just as immaculate. The features with this unit are plentiful except not having universal remote capabilities. I will be purchasing all available add-ons that will enhance the capabilities as they are released. Knowing the quality/support behind Samsung products – I will have this television for quite some time. I am very pleased with this Samsung PN63B550. I have and will continue to recommend Samsung products to all of my family, friends and colleagues.

Going from 50" Sammy to a 63"

Moved from a 720 50" sammy to the 1080 63" sammy and will never look back. The 50" has been a great tv but the 63" in 1080 blows it away. Watched a football game and the picture is great, no ghosting on artifacts. Color is very good. Even my programmable remote still works without any changes to the setup. Looks like I will have to get a up rez DVD or a Blueray to really take advantage of the tv.
Only thing that I was disappointed about was the lack of hand holds on the 63". The 50" has hand hold pockets at the top of the back of the set and that really helps when moving the set. Seems odd that this would be removed from a tv that is as large as this one and need all the help you can get when you need to move the set. All in all I am very pleased with the tv to this point. After it breaks in for a while I will be running a calibration program to set all of the parameter for the display. Can't go wrong with this tv if you have the room for it.

Pros: This TV is a high quality model and I would buy this brand again, unless it gives me a reason not too within the next few years. The picture quality is great, I am able to see detail that I have never saw before. So if you are looking for a quality TV, look no more.
Cons: I wish that I could have waited longer, because I know that all of the flat screens will drop lower in price. The price is not a con when you are forced into buying something.I am not a big TV buff or a couch potato that sets watching TV all the time.
Therefore I hope this TV last me another 27 years
Other Thoughts: I have spent the last two or three months researching a good big screen TV that I could be happy with for years to come. The Samsung caught my eye about five or six weeks ago. I begin to compare this TV to other brands of the same size. With each comparison it was something I disliked that always brought me back to the Samsung. I bought the Samsung 63” to replace a 27 year old 27” Curtis Mathes that is no longer in business.
