Garbage

This this sucks! The fact that Sony refuses to update their software in this it is in Android 3.2. It should be on software 4.x I love if Sony carried from their customers then we would see updates. You can't even watch Hulu. What type of "smart/android" TV is that?

Impressive, with some (temporary) drawbacks

As a first time Google TV owner, I have to say that overall, I'm impressed with this device. The new voice search works extremely well, and the new PrimeTime app is a breath of fresh air in discovering live content. The remote control is also refreshing to use in that in addition to using traditional remote control arrow keys, I can now use a touch track pad, backlit keyboard, or my voice to search for, and interact with new content on my device.
As for cons, the initial device set-up takes (by it's own menu’s admission) a solid 20 minutes to complete, which seems unusually long for such an advanced device. I also wish the Google Play app store had more compatible apps for the NSZ-GS8, as so many apps currently in the Google Play store are only compatible with mobile Android devices. However, at the very least, I wish for now this player would gain support for the HBO GO and Hulu Plus apps. Integration with Facebook, and especially its new Graph search tool to show Google TV users what's trending inside of their own social networks would also be a welcome addition down the road...
Also, as for the three free movies Sony offers, well you only get to choose from 15 movies: Anonymous, Battle Los Angeles, Colombiana, Friends with Benefits, Ghost Rider, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, Jack & Jill, Just Go With It, Men In Black, Men In Black 2, Moneyball, Smurfs, Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2, Spider-Man 3, and The Pirates! Band of Misfits -- This isn’t exactly the most robust or most desirable collection to choose from. So for future Google TV customers, I hope Sony expands their offerings.
In conclusion, even with the limitations listed above, this is a very impressive device, if for no other reason than because its Google TV voice and PrimeTime user interfaces make accessible a new world of content to users that in my opinion have essentially been “locked away” behind poor user interfaces for years. This device is a true game changer that I have no doubt will only improve in the months to come.
What's great about it: Voice Search, PrimeTime, Remote Control
What's not so great: No HBO GO, no Hulu PLus, Poor "
I would recommend this to a friend!

web browsing is disappointing

I've tried to open a few pages while web browsing and they ask for a newer version of Adobe Flash, I tried downloading it but it doesn't allow to install. Can't catch up with some TV Shows using the networks websites to watch last episodes.

A good gadget

I was a bit disappointed in the lack of Hulu + support. There is an app called Play on you can download that gets around this deficiency to some extent by making your PC to function as a media server and thus fool Hulu into allowing access. The Netflix interface is excellent. The remote functions well, although the mouse pad takes some practice.

The Most Under-Rated Internet Player

Aside from Apple politics...this unit delivers! 1080p, dual core processor, and possesses decent apps for present and future. One will not go wrong in adding this unit to any TV. Last but not least ...the bluetooth is great for using with my Sony Premium Dock RDP-XA900IP as a second speaker ....goodbye SONOS!

NSZ-GS8 is a great product!

Pros: The capability to recognize your equipment during setup is amazing! No codes to enter! The NSZ-GS8 had no problem recognizing my Sony TV, Sony SACD/DVD Receiver and Comcast X1 DVR. All three components are controlled via the included IR blaster and Bluetooth remote.
The Bluetooth remote is truly unique! The front side includes arrow keys, a touch pad to facilitate web browsing and keys that are well thought out. It also includes a microphone for a search function that I sometimes use to change channels at night instead of using the QWERT keyboard on the rear. Buttons are provided on the right side to control the volume, including mute, for your TV and/or sound system as well as to increase/decrease the channel selected. An input switch on the front side allows you to select your TV or sound system's input, which is very handy. You can also turn on/off the power using buttons on the front side.
Extensive Settings are provided to customize system operation to meet your needs. You just have to take the time to study the Settings to see what might make an improvement. For example, Audio pass-through, Audio DRC and AV sync.
Cons: The Adobe media player cannot be updated separate from a Google Chrome update. For example, I am unable to listen to Sirius XM Online because the site is using a later Adobe media player version than that included in the present version of Google Chrome.

I replaced cable tv and satellite service after years of waiting for a company that let me watch just what I wanted at a lower cost and not what the big guys wanted me to watch at a higher price. My new sony google tv delivers that and much more of what I want.

Sony vs Logitech
on June 17, 2014

I replaced my Logitech Revue with this Sony Google TV, and I expected a lot. The plusses... it's a little faster than the Logitech. The minusses... the keyboard/controller. The Logitech has a full size keyboard/controller. But... the BIG disappointment is that there are as few apps in the Google Play Store, maybe even fewer, than the Logitech Revue. It also has the same operating system version of 3.2, and I hoped that Sony would have come out with newer, based on the fact that it's still being sold and supported by Sony.
