Samsung - A preferred brand for me!!

NX1 is a complete package of admirable features that will make you totally delighted!! Feel like a Pro user with NX1's high grade build and sensational design. What a stunning display and easy to use catalogs, functions and useful buttons. Whether you need it (now# or not #in future#, you name the function, you have it! Looks like Samsung bundled all the desired features to build it's first professional camera. New image processor, phase detection auto focus system, 15 frames per second, dust and splash resistant magnesium body.
I never expected Samsung to unveil a Pro level cameras, but they nailed it and did that perfectly. Thankfully, not just the body but with essential #NX- series# lenses. Two premium "S" series lenses are available to complement NX1's 28 MP APS-C sensor. I am using one of them - 16-50mm F2.8, auto focusing is super fast and smooth. It's the only lens you would need for most your work. Of course, you can just buy the body and go for other lenses that could save you $1000.
Lens collection - while other companies have boastful collections of lenses #most of them outdated# I always questioned how many of them I can afford, and I need in reality? I find lenses for every occasion on Samsung's website - wide angle lens, zoom lens and prime lens and that's most of what I need. This being the beginning, I expect more in the future from Samsung. Mind you the cost is lesser than you would pay for soon to be obsolete DSLR. If you love shooting videos, it comes with 4K.
My favorite part of the camera is the connectivity, you have multiple options to connect - Bluetooth, cable, NFC and Wi-Fi. You can instantly connect, yes, instantly connect to your laptop, smart TV, tablets and smartphones #Android#. All of them work great!! You don't need to shell out extra money for those irksome and protruding wireless USB, adding more weight to your already bulky camera. If you have Samsung phone, smart camera manager allows you to connect remotely. This has worked great for taking self-pictures. I would also advise to buy the vertical grip as well, it feels more comfortable and gives you an additional battery for extended shooting.
Now there are little annoyances that's not specific to camera but Samsung as a company. Customer Service - wish they were more responsive. Apps - lacks support and continuous development. Most of the Android apps #fortunately not the camera app# are not reliable and do not function as expected. Nothing has been done to remediate this. However, the recent release of new firmware for NX1, fixing minor issues, shows Samsung is working on that!! Hope it continues to keep up the expectations of the consumers.
All that being said, NX1 is build to admire you. Take your photography passion to the next level with its weather and dust resistant casing.

The best dslr I owned. Pics are great especially if you have have good lens. 4k video is also the main thing.

Great Camera But Weak On App Remote Control Support

Love the camera overall. Great Auto-Focus. Speedy view-finder with negligible lag. Sharp images overall, needing little sharpening (Raw). I can't speak for it's jpg output but I assume these are great out of the camera if you don't shoot raw.
My biggest concern is their IOS Camera Control App (not tried with Android). Too difficult to maintain a "connection". Press the wrong feature? want to see images? Can't. You will drop the connection and be required to go back to the camera and initiate another wifi connection, then go through the whole connection startup process again. Once you're in wifi camera control mode, the feature works great. Very little lag time. And operation is speedy and sure ... as long as you don't get interrupted with a phone call or try and view any of the images taken.
Pros: Durable, Realistic color
Cons: poor app behavior (ios)

Can't believe what this new system can do. Hesitant at first in getting one, but when I finally had it, it never left my hand. LCD resolution/touch screen function is amazing! Got the 50-150mm S lens and it blows my eyes away. Couldn't get any better with what I'm getting. The i-function very helpful for all beginners and getting pro results. Thanks Samsung! Love and got their phones and Tv too.

NX1 is Beast!

I have two NX1's and both of the Pro 'S' lenses. I have nothing but good things to say about this camera. I think this is the best camera I have owned up to this point.

This camera is loaded, I am a photo enthusiast, but mostly do video for small projects.
This has everything to do anything wihout sacrificing quality or jumping by leaps and bounds in price.
I recommend Samsung because I want Samsung to grow and make more products and lenses for this.

I will keep this review sweet and to the point. I purchased this camera for my wife and I after a lot of research and thought. I wanted to purchase a camera with some real power, and one that I will be able to use for more than a few years. With kids and an active life, I wanted something I could use taking pictures of my kids opening presents around the christmas tree, record some high quality video, or take to me with work at the Fire Department to use during potentially chaotic and intense situations. This camera fits the bill. I am still breaking it in, but out of the box I could not be happier. I feel like Samsung has real staying power, and this camera just increased that staying power. I trust the quality, technology, and future support that Samsung brings to the table. Technology is such an important aspect of society today, and this camera incorporates that in a seamless way. I look forward to documenting and making memories with this camera for years to come.
