Many sets have radial banding and other issues
on March 7, 2015

This is a 3-star TV at best. Whether or not it's worth your money depends on how much you spend for it, and how many issues you have with your particular set. Make no mistake - this is a budget, entry-level model with no frills, which I was mostly fine with (I don't need smart functionality on the TV itself, and it's usually mediocre at best anyway). What I am not fine with is the radial banding - it looks like a darker-than-the-rest-of-the-screen half circle, or " ) ", on the right side, especially noticeable when most of the on-screen picture is a solid color, with a much less noticeable " ( " on the left side - and the totally uneven backlighting or flashlighting. Based on legitimate user reviews on various retailer websites, many others have had similar issues, often much worse in some cases, while a few have had better experiences. Perhaps there was a severe lack of quality control on at least the initial batch of these that LG has since rectified. If so, great for newer buyers, but it doesn't help me at this point.
In any case, if you want a very high quality picture with no issues, I would steer clear from this set. On the other hand, if (like me) you just wanted a cheap but still decent 65-inch TV, and can easily return/exchange it for free if you have problems, then you might want to play the lottery with this. Just be aware that there's a good chance you'll find some issues with the set you get. For what I ultimately paid, the issues with mine weren't quite enough to get me to fix the box, repackage the TV, borrow a friend's van to take it back to the store, and either get a refund or wait for the replacement set to arrive, and cross all of my fingers and toes that I was going to get a better set, and not a worse one. If I had to do it all over again though, I would not purchase it.
I have a five year old mid-level 42-inch LG TV that I love, and which blew my supposedly great 47-inch Samsung (which I gave away once I got this 65-incher) out of the water. I'm really disappointed in LG for this set, budget model or not, as there's no excuse for the problems many (possibly most) of them have. I just hope that mine doesn't get any worse. Uneven backlighting I can mostly deal with, but the bad radial banding is a major defect that I'm finding harder and harder to live with. If it wasn't for that particular widespread issue, I would give this TV a much better rating.

I'm enjoying my 65LB5200.
However, I do notice some clouding and white spots, especially around the edges, and when watching sports. For example, I see a shadow on the ice during hockey games and on the grass for football/soccer games.
This happens with the default settings, as well as after calibration based on other users' suggestions.
Overall happy, but picture quality could be better.
Pros: Style/Design, easy to use, Features/Settings
I would recommend this to a friend!

I have a 65LB5200 on November 28, 2014, however, since May 1, 2015, the remote does not control the TV, as the sensor may been defective. Please advise, thank you.

we were a little hesitant about buying such a big screen, but after getting it home and hooking it up(which was very easy) we were in awe of the picture quality. movies, sports, and even network tv are very clear. we would strongly recommend to anyone looking.
