I take a lot of pride in my fillet mignon's, my gas grill did not cut it. I got that Yakatori yesterday, with a small amount of charcoal, and a bit of hickory, I was able to obtain the perfect steak ! Actually it was better than one that could be obtained at a very very upscale steak house. Fantastic !

After reading previous reviews, I admit I had reservations about this grill. These were easily overcome. I received the grill yesterday and used it to cook chicken. It did an excellent job. It's true that cooking may take more time than you are accustomed to but the food comes out thoroughly cooked - without being thoroughly "dried out". This, to me, is an excellent compromise. I'm glad I bought it and would highly recommend it for anyone who is only cooking for 1 or 2 people. BTW - I did not actually count the pieces but I'm sure I used less than 20 briquettes. This is an added bonus as a 7 pound bag will last a long time.
I would recommend this to a friend!

What a delightful way to enjoy a spring evening

I bought this because my son, an accomplished outdoor cook, sings the praises of his huge big green ceramic ellipsoid grills. I loaded some lump charcoal into my compact fire starter and I really had no need to add more, amazing me with the Small Yakatori Grill's fuel efficiency. That first loading allowed me to cook about 6 batches (2 skewers each) of marinated chicken, large gulf shrimp, sweet peppers, onions, and 1 inch cubes of beef. Sitting close to the grill was easy because it does not radiate heat to the sides. I was able to judge cooking temperture by moving my and above the grill surface. By watching carefully, and rotating frequently, the skewered foods could be cooked to perfection without overcooking. I can see this grill being used heavily throughout the summer while entertaining family and small groups of people.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great Heat Management - Only 10 Briquettes Needed~

Newly purchased and utilized on April 25, 2018 with great success. Easy to setup and started briquettes, first time. This little pit cooked for over two hours, no problem. It was 51 deg. F outside and the steak just sizzled and you could still place your hand on the outside of the pit, itself. I have added a Webber “Sear Grate” (12”) to help retain heat and for easier cleanup. I utilize a Stainless Steel pot cover to top it off, when needed. I love this thing, so far...
Even single, older women like me enjoy grilling sometimes. This little grill is better suited than my family-sized gas grill, not to mention the fact that I prefer burning charcoal anyway. I use a charcoal chimney to prepare the coals and have learned not to wait too long before starting the cooking as the volume of fuel is not great; the heat doesn't last as long as with a larger barbecue.
I am on an extended work trip and wanted something to just grill for myself instead of a whole family. This is a nice, quality piece. It doesn't take a lot of charcoal and is great for a single steak, a little chicken or kabobs.
