My Mark II

Love this camera!!! Taking indoor shoots without a flash is phenomenal with still shots and HD video. However it seems like I have issues with viewing my images after the shot. When I go to view the image I shot it seems like the view button does not always work. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but it doesn't seem to want to work like my 30D and 40D. Despite the small troubles I'm having I love this camera. Oh...on more thing...the door to the Compact Flash slot does not feel like it will last long. the door seems feels a bit loose compared to my 30D and 40D. Battery life does not seem to last as long as my 30D and 40D.
Pros: excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, quiet, Quick Start-up time, Solid Operation, easy to use
Cons: Short battery life, compact flash door loose, viewing shots has been challenging

Brilliant camera...but!

I can only say that as a digital still camera it is the best so far. Can't see why I will ever need "more quality", "more pixels" or "more resolution". Still a few things I would like to see more customizable. I hate the way the aperture control changes from front wheel to thumb wheel when changed from AV to manual control. The mode dial just like the 5d (mk1) is so easy to knock, why not put a lock on it? Now for the video. I have been a pro newspaper stills photographer for forty years and video is new to me. I was so disapointed when I found that I had no direct control over depth of field in video mode. I expected that at least. I'm sure not going out and buying a batch of manual lenses to achieve full control. Neutral density filters will have to be in my bag all the time. I see there are many different "work arounds" to get control but surely Canon can give us the control we want officially. Video quality is howerver awsome.
Pros: excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, quiet, Quick Start-up time, good battery life
Cons: Missing features/settings

Killer DOF Video Camera

I bought this camera because I wanted to shoot full chip video without messing with a depth of field adapter, rails and a video camera. I recognize that there are workarounds like not being able to over/undercrank and having to record sound separately, i'm not even that hung up on 24p, but not being able to lock in aperture in video just doesn't make sense. I am hoping for a firmware upgrade or for Canon to tell us to go ahead and sell our Canon lenses and buy a competitors to be able to set aperture in video. I bought a 70-200 2.8 and a 50 1.2 ( both incredible) to shoot video and I am thinking of selling them to buy glass that can control the aperture.
Pros: Superior build quality, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, Solid Operation, easy to use
Cons: Missing features/settings

ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS CAMERA

I purchased this camera approximately 2 weeks ago. I own both a Canon Digital Rebel and a 20d. This camera is a great replacement for both. Since I was familiar with Canon DSLRs, it was very easy learning where all the features, buttons, etc. were located on this camera.
I purchased the 5D Mark II, along with several lenses, an extra battery, flash, backpack, etc. I have taken approximately 250 photos, some at dusk, and all have been amazing. This camera has been everything that I expected/wanted and more, it has far exceeded my expectations. I consider myself to be an advanced/amateur photographer, and carry my cameras everywhere. I have taken action photos, nature photos, and candid family shots. All have been perfection.
I am anxious to shoot some HD video, but haven't had an opportunity yet. I am sure, if the video is like the other features of this camera, it too will be amazing.
I would recommend this camera to anyone who rates themselves as an advanced amateur/professional photographer. Great investment.
Pros: Superior build quality, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, Solid Operation, easy to use, good battery life

This still/motion picture camera is fantastic in every way.
If I had to think of one thing it (arguably) lacked, it would be 60p video. But that's probably coming in a future firmware.
Pros: excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Solid Operation, Simple controls/menu, easy to use, video!
Cons: Heavy/Bulky

Awesome Camera

I love this camera! I have been shooting with this camera since it became available. The color and quality of the photographs is superb.I have had people comment on how beautiful the colors are ! Right out of the box, I started shooting...very user friendly, and it's built like a tank! I havve seen a couple of reviews about it being noisy, but I have never experienced that. It is a bit heavy, but that comes with being sturdy and well built, so, its worth it to me to have a camera that can take the wear and tear.
Pros: Superior build quality, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, quiet, Quick Start-up time, Solid Operation, easy to use, good battery life
