A stunning performer

I've been in the canon family for a long time. This camera is something that caps my experience and allows me to concentrate on my creative side without worry that my image won't be there when I'm ready to post process in the studio.
This was a camera that I waited for. I specifically put off purchasing other cameras (40D) to get to this full frame camera. I am not disappointed.
About the only problem is the weight. I've got the extra battery grip, and that does make this a heavy camera.
Pros: Superior build quality, excellent image quality, quiet, Quick Start-up time, Solid Operation, good battery life
Cons: Heavy/Bulky

Worth Upgrading to

I had the 5D and thought it perfomed spectacularly especially with L 2.8 lenses. But with no movie mode, I didn't like having switching to another camera to do movies, especially while traveling and taking tons of shots at different locations which I organzie each location by folder. I got the 5D Mark II solely looking to have all stills and movie files in same folder. BUT WOW, the quality and ability of the still aspects of the new model are a knock out. You can set at 6400 ISO and it looks like 400! That makes the fast lenses even more useful. Apparently the new model has the pixels closer together and there are more of them, so the image quality is off the charts. So glad I sprung for the upgrade. The "heavy" is a "con" but don't let the "heavy" remarks put you off this camera - the weight is really not a big deal.

All works great. As an advanced amatuer / semi professional I have reahed a new level of personal excellence with the full frame digital format.
Only wish the new battery pack and charger were
more readily available.

Good quality and performance. The strength specifications are a full frame DSLR with high quality components. Ergonomics design and size is another positive point in this product and also its price.

The EOS 5D Mark II is a remarkable machine. I've been using it for about a year and have just begun to master its advanced capabilities. When I finally retired my beloved T90 I thought I 'd never be satisfied with a dSLR. Well I was wrong big time. The 5D Mark II is a worthy descendant.
Pros: good battery life, quiet, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation
Cons: nothing i can think of

Excellent choice and couldn't be happier since it was purchased. It has plenty of flexibility and battery life, is solidly built and it's overall performance makes this a winner. Combined with Canon quality glass and this combo is really fantastic!

I have this camera for over a year. And I am very pleased with its capabilities. Allows you to receive pictures of excellent quality in all conditions. I am very glad that I chose this camera. An excellent choice for advanced amateurs and professionals!
