Switch over to Canon SLR'S

Even though I've only had this camera a week or so, and I haven't read much of the manual, the 5D is so easy to use I feel I already know the camera. Along with the 580EXII, I've already shot some great fill flash portraits outdoors. This is the first good SLR I've ever had, and I'm very happy with it.
Pros: Superior build quality, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, quiet, Quick Start-up time, Solid Operation, easy to use, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life, professional results fast
Cons: a pop up flash would be nice

cleaning disappointment

The camera is great overall. We now own three Canon SLR's however this one always has dirty spots and the self cleaning does not work. It has been into the factory and it is still bad and i have had i at a local camera store and the spots return. I am disappointed
Pros: Solid Operation
Cons: dirt all the time

My First Full Frame SLR

This is an excellent camera with superior build quality. I have been using this for over 6 months and have taken lot of professional quality images. But I have lot of autofocus problems even with good contrast. At first I thought it is a problem with my piece, but I have lead lot of other reviews where others too have a similar problem.
Pros: Superior build quality, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, good battery life
Cons: Missing features/settings, autofocus fails lot of times
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Excellent camera. but:.... Lack of manual video control, lack of HDMI cable in the kit to let the user to test the new video facility when the box is opened. Not even some entry-level video-handling software included.

nice camera

Went from a EOS 20D to the EOS5DMark2. Purchased a Speedlight 430EXII flash. The flash produces no red eyes. Best flash photos since the M3 flash bulbs we used in the old days and got great pictures. Like the weight. Good balance with the 24-105mm lens. Since my EOS20D can use the 24-105mm lens I am able to compare the full frame picture my EOS5D against the EOS20D. There is more picture with the full frame. The maxium megapixil pictures are hard to e-mail as the file is huge. Shoot the pictures at a lower quality solves this problem. Still learning the video part. Love the big LCD display

I don't always shoot digital, but when I do I prefer the 5D Mk II.

Eye Loupe Attachment

On this camera, and other video capable dslr's, there is a need to add an eye loupe (hoods, etc.) to the LCD monitor on the back of the camera for viewing while video recording. In your future chassis design you should add little "dog ears" around the periphery of the LCD Monitor such that after-market loupe makers can make "snap-on attachable" loupes to the LCD.
