Great Camera,
Focus screens should be included. Canon should fix the video mode by allowing agc and manual video controls for aperture and shutter.
Pros: Superior build quality, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, quiet, Quick Start-up time, Solid Operation, easy to use, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life
Cons: Missing features/settings

Great Camera

In my tests, images have been tack sharp with very low noise; often essentially no noticable noise. The noise at even 6400 ISO is in a range that can be dealt with. I can not imagine anyone complaining about noise with this camera in most shooting situations. Certainly as with all systems, there are situations where noise can not be completely eliminated. That is a given and understood by most photographers. Some who complain about noise should take a film camera out, shoot a roll of 1600 ISO film and compare to 1600 ISO on this camera.
The focusing system is outdated, something Canon needs to improve, but frankly I get as few missed focus shots with the 5D as with the 7D which uses the newer but still not perfect sytem. When the focus is missed or I do not get the desired depth of field, the reason is obvious; normally the photographer is at fault!
I do find the setting dial a little too easy to accidently change and that is rather surprising. The focus is slow in low light and in some lighting the colors are somewhat flat. Overall it is hard to find any real true weakness with this camera, when used for what it is designed for. Certainly the shutter speed is too slow for action sports and some wildlife situations.
Overall I am very pleased with this camera and consider it well worth the money.
Pros: sharpe images, low noise, excellent build, easy to handle and carry.
Cons: slow shutter speed, slow low light focusing, outdated focusing system, too easy to change setting dial accidentally

Helped me in shooting a short film to get the powerful message across. The camera had people in awe from the quality it delivered to the big screen. The film wouldn't have been anywhere near as powerful had I not had this. Great size, great image and film quality, and very powerful.
Pros: quiet, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, easy to use

This camera blows me away

My sister and I both purchased the 5D M2 in December with the intent of taking it to Mexico for our vacation in January. We wanted to get used to it before traveling with it. I have been blown away by the quality. The crisp beautiful still images that it takes and the incredible video images are really quite amazing. The still pictures speak for themselves. On our trip we were able to take incredible video images that we otherwise wouldn't have gotten. The ability to use a wide array of high end lenses to take a video really makes the videos stand out. My sister has an HD Video camera and there is no comparison in quality between the videos taken with the 5D M2. By using all our Canon lenses with the 5D it really made an amazing difference in the quality of the video. My sister and I have quite a few Canon lenses between us and had a blast using them on the 5D M2 in the video mode. The camera performs beautifully in low light. I had it all the way up to an ISO of 24,000, but there was quite a bit of noise. However, shooting with an ISO around 6400 gave a nice tight image with minimal noise. I also love the ability to change back and forth between video and still shots. The camera is built solid. My sister dropped hers and it was perfectly fine. We also had it out in the elements with out any problems. One recommendation that I would give is to purchase a Monostat Monopod and place a tilt head on it. The monostat has an incredible foot that smoothly rotates and tilts.. It really is an ideal device to use with both the video portion of the camera and the still portion. The Monostat is so stable that you can do HDRI with it. Panning videos with the monostat gives a totally smooth pan. It seems to be the perfect accessory for the 5D M2.
Pros: Superior build quality, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, quiet, Quick Start-up time, Solid Operation, easy to use, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life

Camera Nirvana

This camera is far too nice for my skill. It takes stunning images. Upon receipt I compared the innards to my 60D to fully appreciate the size of full-frame guts and I must say I am impressed. I have a 60D but there were several times in Europe that I couldn't get far enough away to get the shot. While I appreciate the limitation of the wide ange 18-135 on the cropped sensor, I chose a multi-pronged approach and will be purchasing a 16-35 to complete my further preparation to be ready for anything. The build quality and images are just beyond description.
Pros: good battery life, quiet, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Simple controls/menu
Cons: Missing features/settings, Heavy/Bulky, no lock on mode dial, no fully articulating screen, less af zones than the 7d

A Focused Purchase

I am a Professional Videographer who started shooting DSLR Video in 2011. It was quite an adjustment. My 1st purchase was with another brand in which I had amazing success. I was brought on to another project in which a 5D Mk II was used and I was convinced with the quality of the videos that this Camera was truly a game changer. I put all of my intentions into making my upgrade to the 5D Mk II. I recently purchased one about a month ago and jumped on the newest project with excitement of the upgrade in quality and performance. In addition, I have been practicing the craft of photography since the camera is intended for stills. It is such an amazing tool that challenges you to grow on so many levels while using it. For example, the capabilities of mastering the Manuel Exposure to it's fullest potential leaves a student striving for perfection in setting the right modes for the perfect shot. This camera is not for a rookie, unless he or she performs like Lebron James. Just saying, it's an awesome camera.
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: noisy
