This camera is amazing! I read reviews online but nothing compares to the actual camera. It shoots clear crisp photos and video. I was amazed at the low - light features. I have shot in almost complete darkness, and the video is incredibly sharp and detailed. Thank you Canon!
Pros: good battery life, quiet, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use

First Class Performance

I am a Product, Lifestyle and Food Professional Photographer. I am taking around 2500 images a month for various clients in the Hospitality Industry. Since moving to the 5D MkII, I am amazed at the IQ, and the number of keepers I now produce. For theis genre of photography there is no better DSLR out there in terms of magical IQ...I cannot describe it...this camera has "Something" that no other has. My EOS 40D and EOS 7D are wonderful crop cameras, but when you insist on the pinnacle of IQ, there is nothing to bet the 5D Mk II and "L" lenses.
Pros: good battery life, quiet, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Simple controls/menu, easy to use

My First Full Frame

This is my first full frame dslr camera. Bought it used in good condition. Stepping up from my Canon T3i and a 7d...so far the low light pics I've gotten with this camera have been what I was hoping for. Great detail, color, and just excellent all-round quality...with using just a f/1.4 lens I get good full images while there's enough detail I've been able to heavily crop some of the pics and retain their quality.

Practice to get most out of raw images
on February 13, 2009

My initial use of the camera was for 1700 images while travel in Bangkok and Chiang Mai Thailand, Luang Prabang, Laos, and the Angkor Wat area of Cambodia. The raw images out of the camera can be processed to overcome almost all defects in technique. Images up to ISO 3200 are readily displayed on screen or small prints without using dedicated noise reduction software. Images taken inside temples display full color and reveal the detail of interior sculpture and painting. All raw images contain at least one and a quarter stops of raw headroom with a full color spectrum and level of detail. Challenging relief sculpture at Angkor Wat yielded magnificent images with modest adjustments.
The camera's automatic white balance seems to get fooled with outside scenes in shaded areas. The blue color shift is readily corrected by raising the color temperature, often by quite a bit.
Raw images taken are typically undersaturated can benefit with boost of saturation and contrast and some sharpening. Neither issue presents any significant issues in raw processing.
The biggest, and probably only, limitation that requires the photographer adjust his shooting technique is the slow autofocus with the f 4.0 kit lens. Any defects in focus will annoy the photographer working up images in his or her favorite raw processor, even if they are invisible in printed images. . Quick decisive moment shots (even when viewed as 4x6 inch prints) of people require the photographer press the shutter half way (activating the autofocus) and wait a count or two before finishing off the shot.
Pros: excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Nice features/settings, good battery life
Cons: slow autofocus

Simply THRILLED

Even though I'm new to digital SLR the controls and functions are well laid out and easy to understand. The more advanced functions(modifying image & quality w/in the camera) will take some time because these were never available to me before. However, with the OP manual in hand I am learning the subtleties and possibilities this advanced system can provide.
I remain truly amazed at the ease of use, image quality and overall functionality of this camera.
Pros: Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Solid Operation, Simple controls/menu, dealer provided customer assistance

This is a great camera overall. I would recommend it to most. When shooting macro or close up photos, sometimes it is hard to focus, you can't really get as close as you want to. Start up time is good. The LCD display is easy to see in the sun. The manual focus is definitely a great feature.
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, easy to use
Cons: Heavy/Bulky, auto focus not always easy to use
