Best in Class

I've always wanted a really nice surround sound system. I'm not an audio file freak or purest, just an average guy that likes quality music and watches movies and sports. My wife and I built a beautiful new home with 12' high ceilings and concrete floors, which is a very difficult acoustical situation. My plan was to get a Sonos wireless system because I read all of the reviews, and after moving in I did just that. Boy, what a mistake! The technology was great and it had easy hook ups, but the sound was so bad. (The reason to have a sound system right?) After some time on the phone with their tech support, they could just not do anything to handle my difficult acoustic situation. I returned it and got the 520 because a few friends have Bose and love their systems. WHAT A DIFFERENCE. Set up was easy and it has a calibration process to match your room acoustics to the system. IT REALLY WORKS. The Bose app is not quite as user friendly as the Sonos and I do have cables but the quality of the sound is a thousand times better...and a few hundred dollars less.

Sound quality to size ratio is excellent, especially when compared to my old component setup... would buy again!
There are a few small issues tho which would make this a 5 * review if they didn't exist...
- No free to air Radio tuner (must buy a Soundtouch for Internet radio. I fully recommend doing this)
- When paired with soundtouch will not pick up my WD NAS.
- Xbox One has limited support (PS4 is all good)
- Only one Optical Input which is taken if your TV doesn't support HDMI ARC
- Has proprietary connectors on both ends of the speaker cables, which means you either need to run new Bose cable in the walls OR splice the proprietary connectors with your existing cabling.
- Proprietary wall mounts are expensive for what they are.
- Bose universal remote doesn't offer the same functionality as my TV remote once they are paired (Cant view TV guide on my Samsung la46f81bdx)
- No white speaker version :(
