Does everything it should, but the ice machine doesn't seem to work properly. The ice goes all over the place when you press the lever and place a glass underneath.

Terrible use of space

This was the fridge installed by the builder in our new home. I'd never had a bottem drawer freezer and the layout of this is terrible. I can't fit half the things in there I used to fill in my smaller sized standard top freezer. In order to fit a 16lbs thanksgiving turkey inside, I had to remove a number of other items. The drawers in the freezer are also always getting caught on something or in the way. The ice maker is noisy and as others mentioned, tends to throw ice cubs out in every direction. We can't use regular sized glasses with it, only extra wide mouths to catch the ice. As for the upper portion, it is equally inconvenient. While the counter depth would seem nice to prevent food getting forgotten in the back, it's just another reason this thing has less space. The layout of the shelving is inconvenient and doesn't make good use of the space, and there are even a couple of small container sized cubbies which randomly hold things like 1 container of parm cheese. In order to access anything, you have to have both doors open. Finally, you have to make sure the doors are firmly shut, otherwise the door alarm goes off (a nice feature but annoying to always have to push doors closed a few times to make sure it sticks). As I mentioned we had a smaller but traditional fridge in our other home which held so much more and was easier to get things in and out of. We're a family of 3 also, so it's not as though we're trying to fill the thing with food for 12. We've been in the new home for less than 6 months, I'm already shopping for a new fridge.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Poor design

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased this with new house that was buit about 1-2 months ago. The design is terrible as the ice maker takes up most of the top left of refrigerator and no storage for tall soda bottles. Also their is only one draw for chees, lunch meat and vegetables. If I had seen this refrigerator before I ordered it with house I never would have purchased it with house and went and bought my own! I'm 82 years old and wish I had extra money to go and replace this unit!

I have bought 4 new Whirlpool appliances within the last year; Gas Stove, Dish Washer and Gas Clothes Dryer. Except for the refrigerator all l are great.I am a bit disappointed with the refrigerator. The water does not dispense very fast; it only dispenses 1 2/3 cups in 60 seconds. My friends Frigidaire dispenses 10 cups in 60 seconds! So, if I want to make a pot of coffee I it will take me over 7 minutes to dispense 10 cups of water!!!Also, I think that a design change that would be good would be to gave it so that you do not have to open both doors to access the meat, cheese, drawer. It would be better to have tow separate draws so that you only need to open one door at any give time!The water dispensing rate would not allow me to recommend the Whirlpool refrigerator for someone to purchase. In fact I would tll them NOT to buy one.I plan to check to see what the dispense rate spec for this refrigerator is. Hopefully it is faulty and can be corrected.John Anderson

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We have had this fridge for two weeks and so far it's wonderful. I like the organization in the freezer, you do lose a little space with the two drawers, but I won't lose items as much.
