Normal wear this product has not kept up. Draft chipped almost day one. when I asked dealer about they mentioned GE now does different than Paint method. Does nothing for me now. Also we've had problems with the ingnition system since inception. Now we have one side when I turn on the opposite side burner ignition clicks. I assume this is improved but would not recommend this product . I am a GE person but am really disappointed I thought this was a higher end unit

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My complaint with this cooktop is that you cannot sear foods or fry foods at high temperatures because the blower takes the flame away and towards the blower making for uneven cooking and lower temperature than needed. Also impossible to simmer food over long periods of time, ie. soups and stews, etc. If flame is adjusted to not go out it eventually burns the food if not watched closely. Have gone almost entirely to using electric cooking utensils so I can use blower. I would not purchase this product again and do not recommend to others.

the builders put this cooktop (yes 2 times) in both homes I owned as parts of a suite of "matching appliances". That said the cooktop didn't quite get hot and had difficulty frying anything in 8'in + frying pans. it seems like the grates are too deep. Secondly the units and burners on the non-stainless steel model rusted like they were made of material that degraded with heat and moisture and in no-time at all (< 5 yrs) the units were rusted through. I called GE, they pointed me to a place to replace the burner units but yes the price of replacing both burners and a little more would get a product with a different brand that lasted better. I decided to go with a different brand in the first house because the microwave - also part of this suite had a similar disappointing performance. In the second house I didn't get rusting however in both houses the cooker wasn't hot enough on the pots/pans also and the knobs nearer the vent on the surface will get heated by burners at the front would become weaker where they connected into the valve/tap. The opposing direction of the electrical knob vs. the gas knob will cause most people to turn the fan knob or the gas knobs against their limits with enough force to break or separate or damaged he heated the non-thermosetting plastic used to make the knob. The are numerous mentions about these knobs.

Very nice...I wish the burners grates were a little larger. A bit tricky converting from gas to propane. Dark color is sometimes a bit streaky after cleaning....would have preferred stainless steel color.
I would recommend this to a friend!
