So glad I bought this freezer! I can organize so much easier than in my old chest freezer. It runs quietly and I'm so glad there is a lock on it.

Dead after less than 3 years

It worked really well for just over 2 1/2 years. All of a sudden it couldn't hold the temperature. It's got a freon leak that will cost more to repair than to replace. The warrantly was only good for a year.

Noisy Freezer

I bought this freezer a week ago to replace a GE manual defrost model. My only complaint is the noise. It is so much louder than my previous freezer as well as my kitchen refrigerator/freezer. It is located in my laundry room just off the kitchen. I chose this model because of the basket which I really like. If it were located in a garage or basement, it wouldn't be a problem.

Noisy & Loud.

I bought this freezer from a furniture store that was going out of business. The next day I called and wanted to return it and was told 'No. All sales are final.' I was informed to call G.E. if I had a problem with it. So I did. They sent out a G.E. Repairman and he claimed that he too had bought one even smaller than mine and that since it was so noisy, he put it out in his barn! I was shocked to hear this. I know others who own small upright freezers and they claim that they never hear a noise from theirs, other than a humming sound. Well this one I have is behind a door and two doors away from my back porch and my father who is hard of hearing ask me who is vacuuming in the house! My daughter says it sounds like I've got an uneven load in my washing machine! My husband said to tell G.E. to replace it or buy us a barn! G.E. did offer to send out another repairman, but we knew it would only be a waste of time since they all seem to agree that it is the gas in the lines and the compressor that is so noisy. I tried to tell the repairman that it's usually a lot worse and that if he stayed for a little longer that I was sure he would hear it at it's worst. But he left and the noise hit within 15 minutes or less of him leaving. JUST MY LUCK.

Perfect Size

I just bought this freezer after not having a freezer in many years. Now I wish I had not gone for so long without one. It's the perfect size for a small family and now I can see what I have in my freezer that is part of my fridge because before it use to be so packed I would have to take everything out to find something. It has just the right amount of shelves and plenty of room on the door, the bottom basket is perfect for bags of veggies. The nice thing is that it's frost free.

Nightmare to diagnose and fix.

Our freezer started to get warm on the inside. So, most common problem is the start relay they say on the web. I checked mine and it seemed to have continuity but smelled burnt. So, I replaced it. I also replaced the capacitor while I was replacing the start relay. The compressor works and gets hot as it should. Then, I focused on the inside. I replaced both the defrost thermostat and the thermister. I checked the defrost heater and it was good. The freezer still does not get cold. The fan is running all the time. The door switch works fine. So, what is wrong with this freezer? No condenser coils to clean as they are supposed to be inside the compressor. I changed the front control board also and still no change. What is wrong with this freezer? The software version on the control board is 1.7. And what is wrong with the control board? I tried two controls boards and neither one of them solved the problem. I AM BAFFLED! PLEASE HELP!
