Best all in one

Purchased 2 printers, one for a friend and one for myself. I was replacing an HP printer that had constant carriage jams. I am very pleased with my new Brother purchase. The set up was a breeze. The touch screen is self explanatory. I've had it since March and I'm still using the start up cartridges which is a welcome sign. I love the automatic document feeder as well as the 2 sided coping feature. Overall a great printer for my needs.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Overall, it is satisfactory, not great. The print is clear, readable, and the output is fast enough. Problems inslude (1) very sketchy and confusing instructions on loading and printing envelopes, (2) when printing a series of documents, the printer often "hangs up" and prints and re-prints unneeded copies of one or sevral pages, until one of us presses the red "X" on the screen, and (3) sometimes only 1/2 of one page is printed. I would recommend this to a friend but only with these qualifications.

I am very pleased with this printer! It does what I need for personal use. I make copies on a weekly basis. Copies are clear. I like the black and white copies and I love the color copies. I have yet to try photo paper in it, but that is on my list. I would recommend this printer!

shortcomings

Printer works okay. Setup for wireless was fairly simple but printing files over 700 kb via wireless causes a pause that can only be reset by unplugging the printer and printing one page at a time. Brother support has not been very helpful resolving the issue.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

poor connection to network

I bought this printer about a year ago. I have had nothing but trouble getting this printer to connect to my network. I have no problems running any of my other devices over my network. But I repeatedly get the "no device detected" error when using this printer/scanner/fax machine. My last call to tech support a few weeks ago was less than stellar, I was told to do what I have done many times again, and when I asked if this would solve the connection problem I was told "Maybe, but you might have to reconfigure your tcp/ip port again." Well here I sit today re-configuring my tcp/ip port again.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Love this printer!

I've been using this printer for 3 weeks and am really happy. I mainly use it to print larger images for fretwork or woodcarving. We've also printed a few photos and they too are great.
