I'm on my second printer of this model type, I also have an MF4150. I bought this mainly because I can perform 2 button scanning directly to PDF. Press scan button and press the start button. In 15-30 seconds I have a nice PDF of the document I need. I'm lazy so it works well for me.
The printing portion works as I would expect it to. It prints quickly and quietly.
The network/USB option is nice to have. Choice is good.
I didn't really have any issues with setup other than the setup wizard does too much for me, I prefer to set my own options. Though it was a beneficial feature that the setup tool automatically finds the printer during the network setup.
Pros: High Quality Output, fast print speed, Easy Setup, easy to use
I would recommend this to a friend!

I had this machine close to 2 years, It run flawless, quality of print is excellent, network setup not too difficult to do, I run both Windows pc and Mac. It is a good investment I made for printer after several costly color injet printers I had. I am a copier tech with 20 years + on the job, so I know what is a good copier is. I used 24lbs papers, I never have jamming.
Pros: cheap price very low power consumtion.
Cons: fax funtion not auto detect
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great features, setup could be easier

I chose this printer because I have just switched from PC to Mac, and my old, similar Canon printer is old and doesn't have Mac drivers. I love the features -- scanning, duplexing, fast printing, copying. Setup was not the easiest -- since I have Snow Leopard on my Mac, the drivers on the provided CD weren't working. I downloaded the drivers from the Canon website, but I still couldn't get the printer to print. Got on the phone with Canon and a nice guy told me to download the online driver, which I thought I had already done, but now it's working. Good customer service, quick phone call.

Won't print Postscript
on August 14, 2009

Can't find any info that verifies if this will print a postscript document but it appears to not do so. I've set up hundreds of printers in 27 years and this info should be readily available. Poor documentation in this area.
Pros: Small Footprint
Cons: Difficult Setup, poor documentation
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Good product fair price

Installed with Windows XP, all worked well. Print output is quick and quality is good. Scan works in network AND USB mode just fine. The tools that come with scanning though only work in USB mode. If you use with network mode you need outside software (i.e. Photo editing software) to access scanner.
Printer is a bit flimsly but overall very pleased. Great printer for small home office.
Pros: Easy Setup, Small Footprint, High Quality Output, fast print speed, easy to use
Cons: Flimsy Construction

Lacking compatibility win7 64bits

Pros: It is a good product overall. Good price/quality specially on boxing day.
I like the duplex printing feature and the bay for holding printed pages.
Copy is good and fast.
The software is not too complicated compared with some competitor and it is a good thing, keep it simple and discrete.
Cons: Setup! I use the scanner and there is a compatibility issue with windows 7 64 it is imposible to install many software. Took me about 6 hour managing the limitations for setup. Also the scan button has to be push 2 times between usb and network scanning, can it be set in preferences for once?
There is only one quickbutton that we can customize for scan.
The screen on the front is small and doesn't allow to be independant from the computer to scan.
No wifi
It is difficult to find a printer with good scanning capability without FAX, useless for me.
Toner are expensive.
Pros: High Quality Output, fast print speed, easy to use
Cons: Difficult Setup, compatibility win7 x64
I would recommend this to a friend!

Fast easy to use. Ready from cold startup to print in just a few seconds. A little slower when automatically printing on both sides of the paper but still acceptable. Less expensive and faster printing in black text compared to inkjet printer. Operation manual a bit confusing
Pros: High Quality Output, fast print speed, reliable, easy to use
Cons: operating manual could be more detailed
I would recommend this to a friend!

I've had this printer since October 2008. I did run into some of the scan problems others mentioned. I found I just needed to be quick on the scanning from my pc after I went to scan mode. Setup was easy It is networked, and I don't think I had to use the manual to find the network settings. I am pleased with the printer. I would buy this one again if I needed to.
Pros: easy to use
I would recommend this to a friend!
